Becoming more consistent a driving cold front associated with cyclogenesis in the northern plains will bring temperatures down to average and a bit cooler where it should be for late September. It'll likely be the first that does the step down to change air mass regimes and end the consistent 90s.

Man that front can't get here soon enough. To bad it's not coming in until next week. Looks like I'll be roasting out there watching Nebraska get obliterated

We had a random storm last night around 5pm here. It was crazy for a bit around me and there was apparently a downburst in midtown and South Tulsa. I was out working after dark and saw some totally dark neighborhoods not far from my apartment

But it was gone as soon as it hit

Anyway hopefully these fronts start verifying

The last paragraph of Steve McCauley's latest FB post might raise some eyebrows.

“Weather continues to be a real yawner across north Texas with about the only exciting thing coming our way is a return to much lower humidity by the middle of next week ... so that will be something to look forward

And yes, I have already started my new palm tree collection ... but this winter is already looking a bit nasty. Details to follow.”

I would kill for lower humidity. That's not a "yawner" to me, that's awesome.

There are signs from longer range models that a blocking pattern is trying to shape for October that may begin late September in Atlantic Canada. While this month likely finishes above average, a good block Oct-March period tends to yield cold surges. I would look for pretty decent cool/cold air masses next month.

Wait. What? Is that our first legit cool front? Although, we have had some really nice mornings in North Texas the past week or so.
