My daughter is supposed to fly out of Love Field on Friday morning to DC for her school spring break trip. Could get interesting.

Hard to tell if the Friday snow on the gfs 6z will stick on roads or not. Probably accumulate on yards and trees. :cold:

It may have been graupel, not sleet, as it did seem to look more like a frozen snowflake.

ICON showing a significant storm. Mind boggling how it’s so quiet. Y’all are in for a rude awakening in 4 days

I have a Cub Scout outdoor shooting event at Sid Richardson, Lake Bridgeport, on Saturday moring. I'm paying attention.

I think we get an extra badge for the kids if it's below freezing.

It shows a dusting to a half-inch for DFW. Significant it's not. OK is better, but still maybe 3 inches fairly widespread. But, no freezing rain/sleet, so that's a plus.

ICON algorithm can’t decipher between rain and snow well. Most of that liquid is frozen

12z GFS is way far south, above is plenty cold for snow but its surface thermals messing a little with types. But being further south now parts of central texas comes into play for mix.

Oh, good catch, the 540 line is well ahead of what it says is snow. Yeah, add a couple of inches to that, and I would say that's significant.

I'm somewhat skeptical because we've seen this setup multiple times this winter. The models try to amp up some energy out of the SW but then trend towards the N/S energy dominating, and everything gets sheared out. You can see that happening on the 12z CMC and not on the 12z GFS. We need there to be some more separation b/w the N/S and our energy coming out of the SW, if we want a legit snowstorm.

Agreed……if it was back in December, pattern has almost completely flipped since this was an issue. These lows are now getting all the way to El Paso before they eject out, usually enough moisture to work with if they get that far south

Winter 2020-2021 :cold:

All observations are in Tecumseh, OK unless otherwise noted.

Winter posts are focused mainly for Oklahoma & Texas.

Take any of my forecasts with a grain of salt, refer to the NWS, SPC, and NHC for official information

TWC has a "potential winter storm" for me with a couple inches for now. I don't really consider that a storm up here but we'll see how it trends

Ignore the dark green. Icon can’t show mix. It’s all below freezing
