Glad to see our friends north and south getting rain. Clouds have kept temps in check after a couple of over performing days In that regard. Rooting for an EPAC recurve to merge with ULL+boundaries. Getting close to that time of year.

Finally some decent rain here. Hopefully a sign of things to come. Euro and GFS both have a hurricane recurving near Baja around day 10
That time of the year will be coming soon! Sometimes you can get setups like this where parts of Texas can get massive floods. Bears watching.

I don’t know if you noticed, but the GFS long range was throwing out hints a few runs ago of such setup over portions of South TX and SE TX from a system crossing over from the Pacific.

Surprise rain tonight. Wasn’t expecting anything. May get .30 or so, not bad.

Some fascinating insight on why the ATL has had such few hurricanes. This also has an effect on our weather this summer. Should we be focusing on the activity in the IO this year over the Pacific? Weather always amazes me.

Final total is .7 inches
I have pictures of a huge tree trunk that was snapped by severe winds, not by lightning, it has been used in a storm report to the SPC. I noted that the damage was from yesterday.
EPAC future hurricane/TCG and weakness is going to set up widespread rainfall for Texas.

Yea, this event didn't generate much chatter on here but a large portion of the state has received 1-2"+ of rain in the last 24hrs. This is no way to run an August in Texas!
