Wxman57 should be very happy with the heat. He wanted it and he got it! A -pdo isn't good for cool rainy weather. Hopefully it relaxes somewhat moving forward. Typically with a strong niño like we have now, that usually isn't a concern but they are not in sync

DFW finally hit 110 officially yesterday. 3 degrees above forecast.

Hottest day since 2011.

I would take a shot at the belief that record would break either today or tomorrow - they're sitting at mid 100's and it's barely breaking afternoon.

The news keeps getting better for DFW, the front moves through overnight so may not hit 100 Sunday in the western half of the Metroplex. Relief may be smaller in the southeastern side as the front is slower to reach them, but it's coming.

Also a few scattered showers west of 35. Maybe a bit of rain and outflow could prevent any temp records for today and tomorrow.

I have rarely been jealous of my West TX friends and family since I escaped the desert, but Midland is just having pleasant mid-90s for much of this. So odd how areas that are used to this heat are quite cool. And even the heat index has been not bad out there, often below the actual temperature.

I am excited to see the NAM keep DFW below 100 tomorrow!

The latest run seems to push the 100 line even slightly further south than 12z.

HRRR seems to be doing the same.

Any good news is welcome at this point.

Ensembles show 100F+ through the first week of September for DFW. This is just getting more ridiculous b/c climo has highs dropping into the lower 90s by then.

Eventually, it has to cave and the pattern will break. Anomalies only last for so long.

Soils and vegetation are dried out. Makes it a little easier to get so hot.

110F again for DFW. August is currently running 1F above the 2011 record warm August. "Cooler" temps next week might save the 2011 record.

Got .05" of rain today here in Ponder.

Nice little random shower.

Small victory.

We have a Level 1 severe risk in my area for damaging wind gusts. Been a while! :) We need the water!

FYI 2022/2023 for DFW is now the two back to back arguably hottest summers in regards to 100F or more readings. 47/46 days currently couplet, which no other consecutive years can match.

Two rotten summers in a row. And we thought 98-99 was bad. Another streak of 100s again starting Friday will only add to the totals. Pure hell.

Well, may get to 100 again after all. It has been pushing back north on the NAM and HRRR, but tomorrow and the next few days still look good. At least it's not 110 today in DFW...

Just saw the Larry Cosgrove newsletter.

The seasonal forecasts are grim through November temperature-wise, but at least some hope of rain. Finally, El Nino seems to kick in during December.
