Here is my history statement. Houston Texas in 2003 missed three opportunities to have snowfall in the area - but no dice.

One for the record books in my opinion.

The End of February 1997 Storm

#25 Postby Aslkahuna » Thu Feb 27, 2003 4:42 pm

here in Sierra Vista brought mostly wind and ice pellets and rain showers until after midnight on the 28th. Then it changed to snow and we awoke on the morning of March 1st to an inch of snow on the ground and the Huachucas solidy white. The 1996-97 winter was a snowy one down here with the first flakes flying in October and our heaviest snowfall in 10 years in January.

For the record, Mt. Lemmon is just north of Tucson and peaks out at just
under 9500 feet. It is home to the southernmost ski resort in the lower 48.

The unbelievable rains would cause record flooding on the Ohio River and its tributaries.

1997 - Country's 13th driest March since records began in 1895, in spite of record precipitation in some parts of the country. Go figure!

March 1, 1991

#27 Postby Aslkahuna » Fri Feb 28, 2003 2:01 pm

was a wild day here in Sierra Vista as we started the second wettest March since 1986 with the wettest day with 1.02in of rain. The winds gusted to 66mph here at the house as we added a Canyon Wind event to the mix. The two day storm which also brought rain and strong winds on February 28,1991 totalled out at 1.82in of rain which is quite wet for a winter storm. February 1991 is our wettest February here at the house.
