Here I am preparing for the hazy ash skies soon after that eruption.Variable weather today in San Juan where partly cloudy skies occasionally turned cloudy and only a few moderate showers moved thru.

We're all weirded out...it's not making sense, but now, home, it's raining slightly on the roof. Skies are black to one side, normal evening on the other, we all thought it was going to be a rain day.
Drizzle = water coming from the sky
Serious rain is different - at the moment it is trying to be serious, we'll see.
WEIRD!!! Every sailor and serious weather person here is baffled and Nature is giggling.

Yes,a very strong area of thunderstorms apparently has avoided Puerto Rico.

Funny! NOW we're getting blasted with wind and rain and it looks like nuthin'much on the radar. Yikes, lightning too! I'm going back to...if you stick your hand out and it is hot, it must not be raining...etc.

Our electricity went out for two hours last night. The thunder was horrible here in Dorado. Beautiful this morning, nice and clear.

Good morning, all!! We have light easterly breezes, partly cloudy, and quite hazy this morning.

We had just a tiny bit of rain overnight, no more t-storms.

Yesterday around 4:30pm we were hit with some spectacular thunder, lightning, and torrential rain. My poor dog was so distressed, she followed me into the bathroom while I took my shower. (I know, that wasn't wise, but was getting ready for Fri night happy hr.) In fact, I took her with me to town. It didn't last long, about 90 minutes, at best, and kept everyone huddled under the roof at the bar for a great happy hour!!

Good evening fellow members in the NE Caribbean.Saturday became a wet day for the most part in San Juan and suburbs.A couple of heavy showers moved thru with gusty winds in the order of 27 mph by my anemometer. As I type this message tonight breezy conditions are the rule with east winds at 12 mph. Those east winds will help not letting any ash move our way.And that is good for the wedding tonight at St John. But maybe they may run into some spotty showers moved by the trades.

We've not had a drop of rain all day. Very light breezes, on and off overcast. Boaters are rafted up three and more at Dakity (over from the big island) and lots of visitors. White caps in the harbour this morning but all smoothed out now.

we've had a few very light showers today.
but it was a beautiful day. the haze is gone and so are the gray clouds.
and the humiidity!
thank God!
It had been so steamy here. very uncomfortable.
the breeze tonight is fairly strong, making for a cool comfortable night.
I hope the wedding in St. John went off without a hitch or a shower!
Enjoy the weekend, neighbors!

Hello neighbors!

Not a drop of rain here today, not even a hint of rain. I mopped the floors and they dried fast. It was hazy most of the day, despite the east winds, but began to clear out late this afternoon. Feels good!!

We are only 3 miles from St. John. I'm sure the wedding was wonderful! :D

WEATHER SUMMARY FOR THE U.S. VIRGIN ISLANDS
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE SAN JUAN PR
500 AM AST SUN JUL 2 2006

PARTLY CLOUDY SKIES WERE OBSERVED ACROSS THE U.S. VIRGIN ISLANDS
OVERNIGHT. ISOLATED TO SCATTERED SHOWERS WERE OBSERVED
OVER THE LOCAL WATERS AND ACROSS PARTS OF THE ISLANDS OF ST.
THOMAS...ST. JOHN AND ST. CROIX OVERNIGHT. WINDS WERE MAINLY EAST
AT AROUND 10 MPH.

THE SHOWER ACTIVITY SHOULD INCREASE AS THE TIME GOES BY AS PATCHES
OF MOISTURE CONTINUE TO ARRIVE TO THE LOCAL AREA. EXPECTED ISOLATED
TO SCATTERED SHOWER ACTIVITY THROUGH MID MORNING WITH PERIODS OF
MODERATE SHOWERS AND ISOLATED THUNDERSTORMS OVER THE LOCAL AREA
MAINLY DURING MID AFTERNOON. WEATHER CONDITIONS SHOULD IMPROVE FOR
TONIGHT WITH LIMITED SHOWER ACTIVITY IF ANY.

THE NEXT ROUND OF MORE WIDESPREAD WEATHER AND STRONG GUSTY WINDS
SHOULD COME WITH A TROPICAL WAVE FORECAST TO AFFECT OUR LOCAL AREA
ON TUESDAY. THESE CONDITIONS WILL PRODUCE DANGEROUS CHOPPY
CONDITIONS ACROSS ALL LOCAL WATERS.

The next tropical wave that will move thru the NE Caribbean is for the 4th,so a wet holiday for us. MJ,and bvigal watch for choppy marine conditions on the 4th so be aware for that.

AREA FORECAST DISCUSSION
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE SAN JUAN PR
407 PM AST SUN JUL 2 2006

.DISCUSSION...SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS DEVELOPED OVER THE
INTERIOR AND SOUTHWEST SECTIONS OF PUERTO RICO DURING THE
AFTERNOON HOURS. A "STREAMER" FROM ST. THOMAS AND CULEBRA PRODUCED
PERSISTENT PASSING SHOWERS OVER THE ARE OF FAJARDO WHERE PUBLIC
REPORTED COUPLE OF WATERSPOUTS ASSOCIATED WITH IT.

SATELLITE IMAGERY SHOWED AN AREA OF CLOUDS APPROACHING FROM THE
EAST WHICH MAY BRING ADDITIONAL PASSING SHOWERS TO THE EASTERN
SECTIONS LATE THIS EVENING AND OVERNIGHT.

THE NEXT FEATURE WHICH HAVE POTENTIAL TO PRODUCE SHOWERS AND
THUNDERSTORMS WITH GUSTY WINDS IS A TROPICAL WAVE EXPECTED TO
AFFECT OUR LOCAL WEATHER FROM EARLY TO LATE TUESDAY...ALTHOUGH THE
TIMING MAY HAVE SOME VARIATIONS. THIS WAVE MAY PRODUCE GUSTY
WINDS OVER THE MOUNTAINOUS AREAS AND OVER THE COASTAL WATERS
ESPECIALLY WITH THE OCCURRENCE OF THE SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS.

&&

.SYNOPSIS...A 1030 MB SURFACE HIGH WILL CONTINUE TO EXTEND FROM
THE CENTRAL ATLANTIC WEST AND SOUTHWEST TO THE U.S. SOUTHEAST
COAST...THE BAHAMAS AND THE NORTHEAST CARIBBEAN THROUGH
THURSDAY...MAINTAINING A MODERATE TO FRESH TRADE WIND FLOW ACROSS
THE REGIONAL WATERS. A TROPICAL WAVE IS EXPECTED TO MOVE ACROSS
THE LOCAL AREA LATE MONDAY INTO TUESDAY...RESULTING IN A
SIGNIFICANT INCREASE IN WINDS...SEAS AND FAST MOVING SHOWERS AND
THUNDERSTORMS ACROSS THE REGIONAL WATERS.

&&

.MARINE...STRONG WIND GUSTS ARE EXPECTED WITH THE TROPICAL WAVE
OVER THE COASTAL WATERS. HIGHER SEAS ARE EXPECTED OVER THE CARIBBEAN
WATERS ASSOCIATED TO THE STRONGER WINDS. GUSTS OF UP TO 35 MPH MAY
BE EXPECTED ESPECIALLY IN THE VICINITY OF THE SHOWERS.

&&

.AVIATION...THE HEAVY AND QUICK MOVING SHOWERS ASSOCIATED TO THE
WAVE MAY PRODUCE STRONG GUSTS OVER OR IN THE VICINITY OF THE LOCAL AIRPORTS.

&&

.HYDROLOGY...THE EASTERN AND SOUTHEAST SECTIONS OF PUERTO RICO ARE
EXPECTED TO RECEIVE THE HEAVIER PRECIPITATION TUESDAY. HOWEVER THE
SHOWERS ARE EXPECTED TO MOVE RAPIDLY AND THIS LESSENS THE CHANCES
FOR WIDESPREAD FLOODING PROBLEMS...ALTHOUGH URBAN FLOODING IS
POSSIBLE.

Still looks like a fairly wet 4th of July for the NE Caribbean so let's prepare for this rain event.Again MJ and bvigal, both of you who watch a lot the marine conditions, expect a rough late monday thru the 4th at the water. Also strong winds are also with this wave.

A good sunday after all the rain overnight and early this morning at San Juan.Partly to mostly sunny blue skies prevailed with a moderate breeze from the East not allowing ash to come. But the weather will change to a wetter one monday night thru the 4th.

Good afternoon all!

OK, Luis, thanks for the heads up on possible rough seas Tuesday!

It's light breezy SE and warm (82) but not hot - a beautiful Sunday here!! We had some light rain overnight, but nothing so far today. It was really clear this morning, but as the winds have shifted to SE we have just a tiny bit of haze this afternoon. Just enough for a nice sunset! 8-)
