Free AC is flowing in off the Gulf with a nice onshore breeze keeping the Gulf regions more than 10 degrees cooler than areas inland. tomorrow the winds will reverse behind a backdoor front. A fantastic weather pattern overall.

Psyclone, you did a post on the previous page about the dangers of the dry soil and conditions. Well, a very dangerous wildfire is occuring in Nassau County near Bryceville, just to the west and northwest of the Jax metro area. windy conditions are causing big problems currently. Right now, over 250 acres are burning.

Yikes. The Keetch Byram numbers keep creeping up with the highest numbers from Lee to Indian river county. North Florida is still relatively "wet" but drying quickly as well and your report of a fire in Nassau County is an indication that things are changing. Absent rain soon, the drying will accelerate with longer days/higher sun angle and already dry surface conditions resulting in warmer temps (and greater evaporative loss) than would otherwise be the case. the strong northeast winds expected tomorrow could be trouble.

UPDATE: About 50% of the wildfire in Nassau County has been contained. There have been reports of 15 homes having been destroyed by the fire. According to officials, the fire has now scorched over 400 acres.

Also, with the northeast wind coming into the region today, low-level moisture moving in from off the Atlantic will increase and also a 20-30% probability of showers moving in along the Northeast Florida coast. Hopefully, if this occurs, some added relief in the form of showers could make it inland to where the wildfire in Nassau County is occurring.

Could be a day of interesting, changeable weather around here - cluster of storms near the Martin-PB County coast, moving south.

Aside from severe weather, looks like a breezy day later with gusty winds associated with the front. Lake wind advisory in eastern FL. Temperatures over the next week should be warm with lots of 80s over Florida. Also some scattered small showers seem to be forming along a line from Fort Pierce NW to Ocala. We will see if those showers can make it SW towards W Central Florida later today. A few showers would be nice.

Just as forecasted with this backdoor cold front East-Central Florida and NE Palm Beach County are getting all the action up to this point. My yard has already received a good soaking around noon and more hopefully is on the way soon.

The same back door cold front passing through S FL tonight popped up some thunderstorms in my area last night after a high in the upper 80s, giving us much needed rains today as well. The higher sun angle dries up things really quick this time of the year so any rainfall is well received.

There was some decent lightning and moderate-heavy rain for a short time yesterday evening in South Miami - it has been a little while since I've seen lightning and heard thunder. Summer's around the corner.

It was great to see a few areas getting some decent rains yesterday. they all fizzled before getting to my region but some of the driest regions of the state cashed in including parts of Indian river and Okeechobee county. The latest US drought monitor shows drought slowly expanding over the state with a finger of moderate drought now extending into north florida and a newly introduced area of severe drought on the north side of the lake over Okeechobee, Highlands and Glades counties. Absent rain, this will likely expand over southwestern FL soon.

Nice training going on here in southern Palm Beach County in the Boca Raton area with a streamer off the Atlantic with periods of heavy rains and wind for the past hour and a half or so. Beneficial rains here for sure. The streamer is quite narrow so Deerfield to the south and Delray to the north hasn't seen any rain.

NWS has a 40% chance of showers with breezy to windy conditions along the coast this Friday in association with a cold front across W Cen FL. Not seeing any severe threat but a typical spring time front set up for the end of this week. Chances for rain return next week as well, but too early to tell if we get anything or not at that time. Some showers and rain would be nice, it has been fairly dry.

The 7 day WPC QPF map is very wet over north florida so it will be worth watching subsequent updates to see if we can get some decent rains down the peninsula during what is normally a very dry time of year.

50% Rain Chance on Friday 3/31 and then next Monday Night also 50%. Might get some rain during this dry time. Also looks to be breezy but models including the GFS especially have backed off on some of the stronger winds at the surface ahead of the front. NWS discussions not mentioning any severe threat fortunately for Tampa Bay. SPC shows a 15% chance severe storm threat across North Florida so something worth keeping an eye on up there. We will see if any of that occurs across Central FL but for now most of the severe weather should stay to my north.

Don't stare for too long but the 7 day WPC QPF map has good rains over much of Florida including a 3" bullseye over the tampa bay area...much better than recent runs. Let's hope the trend continues in our favor.

Nothing but sprinkles this morning in the Orlando area, latest GFS doesn't look too promising for much significant needed rains in Seminole County where we were placed under a fire ban because of how dry conditions are, grass is as brown as it can.

:uarrow: Unfortunately today's run is not so optimistic but it still shows 3/4-1.5" over the peninsula from lake O northward. It's tough to get optimistic when the run to run consistency is so poor. It is definitely dry with drought conditions expanding and the Keetch Byram numbers creeping higher. Southwest Florida (west and northwest of Lake O are the worst) with the treasure coast a close 2nd.

Big time model bust today, we ended up just having .01"
Another dry day tomorrow guaranteeing us to end up the month as the second driest March on record.

the 6-10 day is actually showing normal to below normal temps for a change and that weather is coming into view at the end of the current NWS forecasts with highs next Friday in the low to mid 70's with windy conditions for the central/northern parts of the Tampa Bay CWA. Something worth keeping an eye on.
