Kind of a severe weather dud here in mid-Pinellas county, I don't even think we received that much rain (or even any thunder/lightning) with the main band that went through. Unless something severe develops along the actual front when it comes through later, this was a non-event for my locale.

Gale warnings in the Florida Panhandle. St. Andrews Bay is very rough.

Not a solid line. Lots of screw zones with some jackpots. I rolled snake eyes for sure. barely any rain here. too bad since it's needed. Now back to regular programming which is pollen and rising fire danger.

I drove through Merritt Island earlier and there was flying debris from the wind which according to weatherbug said was 71. Hail was about a half inch. I see another batch coming from the west but doubt it beats what I just drove through.

It’s been ages since I’ve seen this kind of intensity of storm action crossing the state!

The only storm reports in Jax (so far) are the reports of marble, quarter and golf ball sized hail in Macclenny, and Glen St. Mary along I-10 in Baker County and NW Duval. There's been damage to cars in Macclenny and the police station. Around my locale, I got some heavy rain and rumbles of thunder, so its good there was some good rain instead and not the severe weather that other parts of Florida and the South have been getting.

Let’s see. Radar shows a strong cluster in the Everglades racing east. Here in Palm Beach County in Boca some moderate rain with lightning and only had a 30% rain chance.

NWS Miami snippet:
Broward and Miami Dade
metro areas will likely not see any measurable rainfall.

And we did not see any measurable rainfall. I'll take the cooler weather though.

Looking like another (possible) noticeable cooldown in time for April Fool's Day. For all the cool days we were robbed in February, we're getting them back in spades this month.

Yes, indeed Mother Nature most definitely flipped the script with the weather pattern from that record warmth we had across the peninsula in February. It is such a bonus these crisp, cool nights and mild days. The one big negative is that the cool northwest upper level flow unfortunately gives us a very dry pattern. We need rain. Hopefully, we will get back to our more typical moist pattern as we get into April and deeper into spring.

Temperature at 38.2 degrees this morning. This is the seventh morning this month to this juncture with temps in the 30s, with a couple of freezes mixed in there for this month here.

March has been a chilly month thanks to the -NAO. The parade of nor'easters ( 4 total in 3 weeks) off the U.S. Mid Atlantic and New England this month has most definitely been the story this month. It has helped to lock in the cool, dry weather pattern across the peninsula and Deep South.

Some rain is in the forecast for the Jax area Monday as a back door cool front coming down the Southeast U.S. coast approaches this area. We will take any moisture right now any way we can get it.

It looks like we're finally breaking into a more seasonal pattern with warm conditions returning...probably for the duration considering the calendar.

Hopefully we see more of that on the East Coast of Florida this summer as the last three summers featured strong Bermuda/West Atlantic ridging allowing the sea-breezes and thunderstorm activity to push and remain mostly inland and on the west coast.

Summers like 2012, 2013, and 2014 featured some interesting afternoons!

Chances are at least for the peninsula that this was the last cool spell for the year until at least mid-late October. So enjoy it guys, we deserve it!

In my town just north of Lake Okeechobee, we had a tornado and 80 mph winds with hail that blew threw with the cold front. What a wild evening!

GFS is still showing this cool down and my local TV Met mentioned it tonight. I'm ready for spring and no more cold fronts. My low this morning in Bushnell was 36.7 degrees.

While I'm in no hurry for Summer meltdown heat I am looking forward to seasonable, reliable warmth. Any cooldowns going forward will be transient. It's just too late. Here's to hoping for a long stretch of not needing a jacket or AC.

The GFS might be overdoing things but you can get impressive high temps in a low dewpoint environment this time of year away from the coast...especially when it's been dry. If it's a dry airmass it's pretty nice with a big range between lows and highs and comfortable humidity levels. notice the GFS depicts much cooler condions near the coast thanks to seabreezes. We're getting to the time of the year where it pays to be coastal. I'm happy it's warmed up. a stretch of weather perfection is on..
