Re: Florida Weather
The Squall Line finally made it here in NE Palm Beach County and the main hazard is heavy rain and excessive lightning.

Impressive line! Was not able to get video but had a few gusts to 45-50 along gust front before the actual line moved into Sunrise.

Re: Florida Weather
This is a day late, but my city was one of the cities in the direct path of the squall line. After it had finally passed, I did a small walk-around through my immediate neighborhood to look for any signs of wind damage. There were a few small branches scattered throughout yards, but overall, the damage was negligible in my exact location.
Could have been so much worse. Two severe thunderstorm warnings were issued for my entire county (Clay) due to the threat of destructive 70+ mph wind gusts, the same as what those more central and west locations in north Florida and southeast Georgia had to face. Those places face serious, widespread damage in the aftermath of these storms, and I am grateful that the same did not happen to me.

Re: Florida Weather
Good Morning and Happy Easter everyone!
I hope everyone is out enjoying this awesome, cool weather we are having this weekend for late April, courtesy of the deep upper trough, which brought some areas severe weather back on Friday and now the providind the splendid, unseasonable chill across the region this morning. This is a fantastic bonus Mother Nature is giving us, sort of like a big, albeit, a very brief make-up to us, after such a warm winter she brought to the region.
It bottomed out at 47 degrees here at the home station this morming. Areas across the North Florida interior dropped down into the lower 40s like Lake City, which reported 42 degrees, Jax Cecil Commerce 41 degrees.
Tallahassee reported 41 degrees
Also, out in the panhandle, the coldest locale always in the state, Crestview, reported 37 degrees.
What a treat!! All great things unfortunately come to an end, and the heat and summer muggies will set back in for good after tomorrow. We won't see temps like what we are having this morning at least until late October at the earliest.
Rain also returns by late this week as well.

Re: Florida Weather
Happy Easter fellow Storm 2K’ers!
Couldn’t ask for a better start to this Easter Day, it was a chilly 58° here in Palm Beach Gardens and it should warm up into the upper 70’s this afternoon, not bad for late-April!

50's to start Easter Sunday caps what has been a Winter/Spring season that featured boatloads of exceptional weather. It has been the best in a number of years here. On to the swelter season..

Re: Florida Weather
Dew points are currently in the 30’s, with humidity in the 20% range. Enjoy it, cause this is more than likely the last of it until at least October!

Re: Florida Weather
With this progressive pattern which has been unusual I'm sure Florida will get several cold fronts into at least the May timeframe.
No droughts to really speak of in Fl this spring so far. Nice not to worry about wildfires for a change.

Re: Florida Weather
I hope this changeable, progressive weather continues right up to the rainy season start. It's nice to not have weeks and weeks, sometimes literally months and months, of nothing but sun all day and not a drop of rain. Plenty of March/April/May's have been exactly like that right up until about Memorial Day.

Re: Florida Weather
Speaking of cold fronts, it looks like we may be seeing another one pass through around Friday. Not sure about any possibilities for severe weather.

Unfortunately, unlike the last two this next front will pass without much cooler air behind it.

Re: Florida Weather
Jax AFD from very early this morning says that there is a "potential" for severe thunderstorms with the approaching cold front during Friday. Predictability was too low in terms of where the worst of the activity would take place for any sort of day 4-8 risk area to be issued. I'm thinking that we might see a Day 3 marginal risk issued tomorrow morning for much of north Florida, possibly including the Jacksonville metro area.
If anyone who is more "in-the-know" about this would like to say anything, feel free to chime in.

Re: Florida Weather
At the current time Arekkusu, it looks like we may see scattered strong storms across the area coming up on Friday. There definitely will be sufficient forcing and instability in the region with the approach of a low pressure trough/frontal boundary on Friday to produce strong to isolated severe storms. However, it appears for now it will be nothing like the widespread event of this past Friday (4/19).

Re: Florida Weather
I was right about a marginal risk being issued -- a Day 3 Marginal Convective Risk has been issued for the majority of the state, including some parts of the Jax metro area, like St. Johns County.

Miami AFD kind of wishy washy this morning, reads like it isn't really sure what the deal is for the weekend and the upcoming week.
Just an observation, a lot of very obvious shear whipping through the central and eastern Caribbean at the moment. Actually looks kind of impressive on satellite.

Re: Florida Weather
It was a good run but we have definitely used our last get out of jail card wrt avoidance of sustained heat and humidity. Pool, beach and summer weather incoming. What a nice winter and spring we had.

Re: Florida Weather
Yeah, it's not going to rain here, is it? Have a feeling we are entering about 3 or so weeks of no-mans-land where any continental systems won't be able to press far enough south to get SFL anything significant, and there will be just enough breezy Bermuda high action to stop anything from getting going locally, but not breezy enough to keep things cool. Basically my least-favorite South Florida weather pattern.

We are in for absolutely nothing but sunny and warm for the month of May since cold fronts won’t make it this far south and fizzle out. This truly is the most boring time of year for me until hurricane season arrives.I agree the pattern is huge yawner⬆️
