South Florida Hurricane Climatology PDF from NWS - September:

"September is the most active month for tropical activity in the Atlantic basin. However, for mainland South Florida, September ranks second behind October for the total number of tropical storms and hurricanes to impact the area. However, major hurricanes (Category 3 or higher) have hit South Florida most often during the month of September."

Invest 93l could be quite a rain event for SE Florida even though it has not be advertised as such. I see new storms developing over the Bahamas on the radar plus it gets to traverse the Gulf stream overnight.

We're fixing to get ourselves a strong cold front coming up. Looking forward to seeing temps down to the 50s.

Finally a legit front is incoming. looks like a 60 degree low is on the way for me. can't wait to turn my AC off until next year. It's been one heck of a rainy/tropical season.

:uarrow: Yes indeed!! FINALLY, Mother Nature is sending us the first true taste of Autumn to the peninsula, beginning tomorrow. A nice, refreshing change which will hopefully help to put us closer in turning the corner to. having a conclusion to a very active tropical season for 2016. Well, most certainly here in Northeast Florida for certain.

Temps are going to drop down well into the 40s here across interior areas of the northern peninsula for both Sunday and Monday mornings!! Max temps only in the 70s over this weekend with sunny conditions. Just splendid weather!! Open the windows and enjoy!!! I will enjoy every bit of this cool weather coming in the next few days after having experienced one of the hottest summers ever on record this season.

Have a great weekend!!

Did you guys up there really already get down into the 40's with that first front? I'm eyeballing "front #3" for upper 40's here in Central Fla. That won't likely be until a week from this Saturday though. Even still, I'm just thrilled to have humidities down and slightly cool nights in the low 60's which we've had here for a number of days now. It'll cool down again this weekend too, but its looking like the front that'll come through one week afterwards will be cooler yet.

:uarrow: Yeah, the mercury dropped to 42.4 degrees here on the morning of October 23. It was a really crisp and cool weekend. Just needing more of it soon. Pattern shift may be. coming by next week with potential trough across the Eastern CONUS. This could bring colder weather back our way.

One thing that is nice, at least we've turned the corner and seems to be maintaining a distinctly milder regime over all. Upper heights aren't that low at all but the surface flow is keeping things from warming up a lot. With that E. Coast trough setting up in the longer range, I"m thinking that Central to N. Florida will more or less maintain slightly cooler than normal temps for a good portion of this month. I'm getting the impression that an overall longwave blocking pattern is trying to set up around the N. Plains. Hope this pans out and that we remain on the downward slope flow. Tropics sure don't seem to be hinting at throwing any other curve-balls at us here; only exception might be the very long range starting at about 384 hr.'s well to our south. Lots and lots of time to see if that ever plays out though.

It's like a hurricane in port orange right now. The wind is blowing and a heavy downpour. I just recorded a gust of wind at 27 mph.

Long-range ECMWF showing quite a plunge of cold air that dives deep into the south and into Florida. Now that is some trough if this verifies. :double: :cold:

:uarrow: If the EURO verifies with this, it could bring a freeze into portions of the Deep South going into late next week. We shall see. Ready for some colder weather to come in now for sure.

GFS long-range showing much below normal temps for the SE United States and deep into Florida early the week of Thanksgiving. Around 40F for the I-4 corridor and 30s across Northern Florida? :cold:

Here we go again this season with the models' fantasy "arctic" outbreaks for FL.
06z GFS has highs only in the 50s across central FL Monday of Thanksgiving week, lol.
With the PNA forecasted to be near neutral and NAO staying near neutral to slightly positive I really doubt it. Forecasted negative AO doesn't do much for FL, we need the NAO to go big time negative for such abnormal cold wx pattern to affect FL. IMO.

Yeah, NDG, here we go again.lol.. We will see if the AO/NAO will tank. The GFS seems to think it will by the end of next weekend looking at the 204 hr forecast below:
