Yeah, looks like there won't be any rain where I am until about a week from now.

Re: Florida Weather
Looks and feels like the rainy season may be very near for South Florida with deep east wind flow and storms building over the Everglades and off Granda Bahama island. Dew points are not quite there yet hovering just below 70F but they should be creeping up as the week progresses as will the rain chances.

Re: Florida Weather
We're easing into Summer and May is typically a nice time WRT beach and pool weather with warm temps a reduced rain chance. It's a glorious (albeit somewhat sterile for weather watchers) transition into pre rainy season Summer. I love it. Spent the weekend at the beach which is a slice of subtropical heaven. Even saw a green flash last night with the Gulf sunset.

Re: Florida Weather
Well, it looks like our break from precipitation might be over soon here in the northeast part of the state. The heating-driven thunderstorms are expected to make a return on Friday. I don't think it's out of the question that some of the storms will be strong since there looks to be a bit of instability going on Friday afternoon (1,500-1,700 J), but other factors (like shear) seem to be lacking. It's still four days out, and what do I know? After that, another cold front will pass through on Sunday, and this is apparently our best bet for any sort of organized storm activity, according to the most recent AFD from NWS Jax.

And also add in the possible tropical disturbance currently in the Bahamas and things look real wet

Yelp! Moisture is steadiliy increasing with the deep east/southeast flow. Showers already developing off the NE Florida coast headed for the coast. This will only increase as time progresses and depending whatever comes about this disturbance in the Bahamas.

If I didn’t know what time of year it was I would think the rainy season was in full swing. Rain alerts have been popping up on my phone all morning.

Re: Florida Weather
Something tells me that the weather is about to get a little interesting, particularly on Friday and Sunday. I'm curious to see what transpires over the next couple of days.

Re: Florida Weather
So, does this little tropical disturbance officially kick off the 2019 South Florida rainy season, or do we go back to your typical spring dry/windy high pressure regime for a couple weeks with sub-70 dewpoints? Sometimes these systems, whether tropical, a stalled front or what have you end up marking the beginning.

Re: Florida Weather
Forecast is unusually unsettled for early May. Perhaps this does mostly bridge the gap to the rainy season for those with mid May climo. Since the rainy season doesn't get underway here until mid June I'm expecting (and hoping) for more sunny hot beach weather.

Re: Florida Weather
Could be another early start to the rainy season which usually starts around May 15th. Wonder if we will see a wetter than normal period during the start of the rainy season just like we had the last two years?

Re: Florida Weather
And just like that the start of our rainy season has started, IMO. Highs near 90 with dewpoints in the 70s.
This is fairly normal during El Nino years to have an early start to our wet summer.

Re: Florida Weather
Today's round of thunderstorms in the northern part of the state wasn't that bad. Some places near the panhandle and big bend did get some small (pea / dime size) hail. I got some showers where I live, but nothing else.
Tomorrow might be a little bit different, although basically nothing besides moisture and some moderate instability looks to be favorable for severe weather. Wouldn't be surprised if maybe one or two severe storms did pop up, though.

Re: Florida Weather
Looks like the Northeast Florida area is about to get a pretty good soaking of rain. There is a vorticity max, which was discussed earlier on a post, which is about to move onshore Flagler and St. Johns Counties with the next hour. Radar showing some pretty heafty showers about to pivot west/northwest inland in the next hour. Looks like areas around Palm Coast, and inland to Clay and Putnam Counties will see some decent rainfall the next couple of hours.

Re: Florida Weather
Completely missed out on the rain yesterday. As is often the case in central and south Dade, when I looked out my window to the north from 6pm-8pm, it was pitch black, but there was not a drop south of that. The sweet spot always seems to be north Dade and south Broward; this happens a lot.
I definitely think it's rainy season, though. It's steamy out. Feels like June. I don't think we are getting back to sub-70 dewpoints until sometime in October.
