Ton of storms firing over the southern interior south of Lake O. Picked up on Melbourne radar, as the Miami radar is currently experiencing an outage.

Lehigh Acres and all of LEE County finally enjoyed much needed rain and heavy storms after 6 days of being dry, at least over my neighborhood in Lehigh. It is still going at it on the coast of Lee county at 10:46 PM Thursday the 7th.

Widespread flooding yesterday in the Jupiter/Tequesta area during the afternoon and evening. Even at 7pm a local populated shopping center on Indiantown Rd. had a good bit of standing water still!

The purples indicate 3-4 inches of rain, while the blues 4-5, and yellow 5-6.

4 days 4 severe thunderstorms here in Brevard county...I cant remember the last time I've seen a week like this

I got 1.12 inches yesterday and 1.39 today.
In both cases, it opened up with an absolute barrage....0.5-0.7 inches in 10-15 minutes tops (my station logs to WUnderground every 6 minutes so I can't get more precise than that).
Absurdly windy too...almost grey-out conditions with all the rain blowing around.

Heavy storms this afternoon in Lee County and over Lehigh Acres. My rain gauge was not upright so I have no idea how much rain we got. So glad to see this.

Seems like it has been raining on the east coast here just about everyday with no east wind pattern. Plenty of clouds around with mostly cloudy skies and not a lot of sun. The pattern has made a 180 flip from a year ago where we saw nothing but east winds and all convection buried over Ft Myers and Naples area.

Mother nature has a way of balancing things out over time. This break we're getting (at least on the west coast) is wonderful. Sun is out and beaches and waterways are packed with boaters and sunbathers.

Looking at the extended forecast the robust rainy season so far this year for SE Florida looks to continue with even the possibility of a backdoor front in the vicinity of the region this weekend enhancing convection across the region. The pattern continues to look nothing like we have seen the past several years with all of the convection over on the SW coast of Florida each and every day with mostly dry conditions over metro SE Florida.

For the first time in what seems an eternity convection is not moving east. We've got quite the seabreeze/outflow collision setting up this evening over west central/southwest florida and after the excessive heat today this could yield some strong/locally severe thunderstorm development with lots of dangerous lightning where things get going.

We are back to the easterly flow regime.

The flow wasn't even very strong yesterday, yet still, no thunderstorm managed to graze the Miami area.

Classic Tampa Bay seabreeze collision incoming...should yield some good storms with waterspout potential. hopefully boaters are clearing the bay.

Drought index for SW Florida was posted by my local station. Lee county was 56? What does that mean?

1.56 inches yesterday, .96 inches today...after a break of 3 or 4 days, the rain returned to Jacksonville in force.

I like this northwesterly flow that the NWS keeps mentioning. I like to think that it'd block the named storms if it keeps going.

meanwhile the shallow west coast waters are blood warm. we were at 90 for about a week and half before the recent overcast and rainy weather. even so the water felt about 86 or 87 today when I was swimming. absolute heaven..

That's insane?? I hadn't realized that localized up-welling occurred to that extent. Are the beach SST's still in the mid 70's around Cocoa and beaches immediately north and south? Just wondering because we were talking about a small family get together and maybe meeting to spend the day at the beach this Sat. or Sun. As an old Floridian, I just don't bother with going in the ocean if the surf temps are under 84'ish LOL! Maybe i'd better re'arrange plans for everybody to head to the W. Coast (plus the added fun of looking for sharks teeth down near Venice and points south!)

Hard to believe that on July 6th, we are actually watching Hurricane Beryl.

Obviously, calling for a Florida landfall in July would be absurd, but it seems reasonable to me to think that we might get some enhanced rain chances a week or so down the road from this system, whatever form it may be in by then?
