Re: Florida Weather
Peninsular florida is often breezy in the spring and fall with an easterly component. I would imagine we will have lots of south and southwesterly wind directions over the next week with this digging trough setting up the rain potential.

This post was probably an opinion of mine, and in no way is official. Please refer to http://www.hurricanes.gov for official tropical analysis and advisories.

Not yet. We're just a couple of degrees below that consistent 70 degree dewpoint mark that used to be the criterion for rainy season starting. I was just saying it could happen any day now. Or it could be May 30. I'm going out on a limb and leaning toward May 10 - a work week earlier than the official May 15 start.

Re: Florida Weather
Not quite here yet our rainy season. We need the cold fronts to stop coming through and for the 70s dewpoints to stay in place along for daytime heating into the 90s do its job to get the cycle going.
Another cold front was forecasted to come through this weekend but models have not back off, so perhaps it is in the horizon in the medium range.

May is coming in like a lion, say good bye to the relatively average cool wx we saw during April in central FL.
90s inland are here to stay.

Re: Florida Weather
Not much rain at all to show for it, but.......dewpoints have been above 70 for a few days in a row. Although if this front does manage to slide through this weekend, may have to reset the rainy season clock yet again. If it stalls...maybe not.

Re: Florida Weather
No more comfortable weather ie low humidity and below 80F temperatures with cool/chilly nights early morning hours....Summer is here for next several way too long months.
Welp, the Northeast Florida Area joins the hot and sticky time of the year!

Re: Florida Weather
Well, time to reset the counter, as the dry season fired another shot....dewpoint at 65 again. Probably the last shot for SFL.

Very likely the last shot. Aside from rain events shown in the medium range, no discernable cooldowns showing on the GFS. Maybe we'll see the cool weather again in October!

I'm ok with that, hopefully the wet season arrives soon and we can rebound from having less than half the normal rainfall for the year

Re: Florida Weather
Looking at the next week ahead there is a chance official Wet Season kicks off on the Treasure Coast. It's a bit early but not overly early ... we'll see

I actually think it may have started today. Been raining most of the day....clearly the moisture wasn't far away and it moved back north over Miami. I think this is it, it's here.

I live in Lee County on the west coast. Lehigh Acres specifically; Just east of Fort Myers and east of I75. We had some rain last week but nothing since. It’s killing me. My backyard died over the Winter. I have a beach with no water. I can’t lay down sod or seed until we get daily rain. I am praying season begins soon. I miss the rain and wild storms that brings the rain.

Re: Florida Weather
As long as we keep getting late season pushes of dry air...the rainy season will be thwarted. over the next few weeks it will get going. Some areas...like here.. aren't entitled to rainy season action until about the 2nd week of June. we get a late start so warm and sunny weather is very much on target.

Re: Florida Weather
Mmmmm tropics waking up early again this year? We could really use the rain here in West Central FL.

High pressure has settled in over much of the eastern half of the
United States. This has brought dry air over the area with only a
few showers possible in the interior parts of southwest Florida
today and tomorrow. As the high pressure pushes closer to us and
builds today we will notice an increase in winds late this
afternoon through the evening hours with some spots gusting up to
20 mph.
As we start off next week high pressure will stay in control with
humidity and afternoon shower chances increasing day to day. Eyes
will already start to turn to the tropics as we go into Friday and
next weekend. Both the Euro and and GFS is showing a weak trough
forming near Florida and heading into the Gulf. The GFS is more
bullish with the moisture and showers activity over Florida while
the EURO is showing a weaker quick moving and drier trough.
Hopefully we will get a clearer picture as we get a little closer
to Friday and next weekend.

Re: Florida Weather
Looks like both models have backed off on that scenario and the dry days will continue, and I think rainy season will start late this year.
