Re: Florida Weather
Have some weak vorticity close to the Panhandle and quite a bit of rain. Could get interesting if it hangs around and slides into the gulf.

Re: Florida Weather
I like this weather. This is way more the kind of weather I remember as a kid. Just because there is an easterly breeze doesn't mean we don't get rain here in SE FL.

Re: Florida Weather
Personally, I'm loving this easterly setup. Yesterday I received 1/2" rain and the day before nearly 3/4". After watching the grass and the plants go crispy, this has been a welcome relief. The wind gusts during last night's storm were very TD like. Can't wait to see what tonight's rain is going to give us. Of course, it ruins watching for NEOWISE. Oh well.

I'm also loving these easterlies. This is what South Floridian summer is supposed to be. Frequent thunder last night and this morning, finally drying out a tad but still overcast.

Yes me too, been a long time waiting for this pattern, had my 1st power outage from a storm today only 1 hour but I'm sure there will be many more to come.

This book has tremendous reviews. I just purchased it used on e-bay. If you are interested in Florida's hurricane PAST this is a treasure trove by all accounts. Ancient FL through the mid 1990's

I've owned a copy for years. It provides a historical context needed, and often missing, in discussions. Lots of places are far more prone than recent history would imply...

Me too, have owned this treasure of a book since 1999! Glad to see others here have this as well, it really is the best FL history book I know of.

Well, what has happened post publication is well documented of course. THe real meat for me is the past ... I can't wait to read it. By all accounts a great tool of reference and a gold mine for analog bloodhounds.

It really is Toad, I hope you like it as much as I did. It has amazing info on storms before 1900, and great accounts of the early 20th century FL hurricanes!

Re: Florida Weather
A tropical wave near the Bahamas will enhance the prevalence of storms traversing the state in the Tuesday timeframe.
Quite the switch of the past month weather pattern which was needed.

Looks like a pretty decent almost band-like feature that is about to rotate into SFLfrom the SE, probably within the hour judging from how it seems to be booking along on the radar loop.

Fantastic footage! I've chased multiple hurricanes and this does look close to minimal hurricane conditions, perhaps appearing as strong T.S. winds in between feeder bands of a hurricane. Great stuff.

I enjoyed the first edition so much, I had to go buy the 2nd edition as well. I love referencing it to correct the know-it-alls out there.

Re: Florida Weather
finally a huge convective jackpot on the west coast today with just about everyone cashing in. this is the kind of summer weather that takes the edge off of shelf water temps and modulates air temps to some level of sanity. we had been on target for the warmest july ever but the past couple of days might take us out of the running. one can hope. Key west has gone from first place to 5th thanks to robust convection tempering the heat.
