:uarrow: Yeah it's exceptional. If we're going to have above normal temps this is the time of year to have it... We're getting free air conditioning here thanks to the frigid shelf waters of the Gulf. Good stuff

it's a weird night tonight, lol, it's warmer in parts of central North Carolina than parts of South Florida. low 60s from what I'm seeing down there on wunderground, and where I'm at up here (chapel hill) it's 65 at 3 in the morning!
That ridge sure is flexin tonite!!

Early morning hasn't been too bad with some radiation cooling, I guess the ridge is pretty much right over our head. Day time has been warm with strong sun, though. In any event.....the current satellite picture is not what you want to see if you're interested in cooler weather in Florida and the Southeast. You don't even need to read the forecast discussions.....almost that textbook SW Atlantic subtropical ridge.

Yup indeed, it seems the ridge was centered over near you guys down there, we had a light south to southwest wind here last night. It also warmed up here ahead of the next front due to cross up here on Friday morning, which will knock temps back to average in parts of the southeast.

Low 80's and sun...in early February which happens to be the first day of the state fair. It's why we live here and helps explain why It's so crowded this time of the year. It leaves me wanting more and nature looks to enthusiastically provide. More please

As long as the PNA continues to be negative and the NAO neutral to positive the forecasted -AO will not much anything to our pattern.

I'll take even a weak passing cooldown. Seems like there may be some chance of this one kinda stalling/hanging around, though, as they've introduced 40% chance of rain for Tuesday night, and 50% Wednesday and Thursday. I don't think they are too confident in a clean passage right now.

Nope rain chances lowered to 20% around Wed/Thurs time frame. The AO is still positive so no cool down the crappy SE ridge is the deflector.

Hard to believe it is winter out there. Florida has lame winter weather. It's like Mother Nature is doing this to spite us.

I’m living my winter on the Texas winter thread it’s exciting over there. Winter here is so boring, other than the rain from two weeks ago. They might not get snow but they have variety with the weather.

While Florida is and will remain the epicenter of the warmth I've worked out a deal to extend the torch all along the Gulf coast to include Texas next week. They deserve some warmth too and now that we've killed off Winter I'm willing to share :grrr:

I recorded two consecutive days of 81 degrees here at my locale (Thursday and yesterday). The Southeast Ridge has been giving the peninsula a nice spring fever rush for many the past few days I am sure.

However, big change here today locally, compared to the last couple of days. Mother Nature has brought us a strong, nice sprawling, 1048 mb Polar High centered over Wisconsin at 12Z this morning. It is building down the Eastern U.S. seaboard and the wind gradient definitely is being felt here in Northeast Florida. We are experiencing strong northeast winds 20 mph gusting over 30 mph at times. This Polar High has temporarily, at least for now, "beat down the Southeast ridge" enough to bring us back to cooler weather here, at least across North and Northeast Florida. The Polar High is moving east across the Great Lakes region and eventually headed toward New England. We will be seeing northeast wind flow today with clouds and cool conditions here with temps holding mostly in upper 50s to near 60 degrees. The onshore flow will also pick up moisture off the Atlantic and bring a chance of showers across Northeast Florida for the weekend. Temps will max in the 60s tomorrow.

We will have another brief warm-up for Tuesday and Wednesday of next week, ahead of the next front. We also will probably see a good round of rain move in to the peninsula with that front middle of next week as well.
The progessive pattern that has firmly been in place all Fall/Winter season keeps on going strong. But, looking ahead into the medium range models.out 7 days, at least we will be back to what our average temps should be for mid February here in North and Northeast Florida. It does not look like any extreme cold temps are heading south over the next 7 days. So for the time being, there are no freezes anticipated through next week seen for North Florida. It will be a return of seasonable temps after about Wednesday, which I can live with just fine!

Short sleeve shirts for sure. Here's where it especially bugged me when living in Miami-Dade or Broward during the Winter. I'd watch a weak cold front try and sag down the peninsula and be jealous when our S. Florida winds immediately veered out of the ENE and practically not even see any drop in temps. Meanwhile, my sister up in Winter Park would at least cool off 10 degrees for a day or two. This front forecast to creep over Central Florida Tuesday eve. or Wednesday, will at least nudge our 80H/60L temps back down to around 70H/50L for a day or two.

Thanks to a nice strong North Atlantic mid-level high centered south of Greenland late next week, you South Florida folks should finally cool down again next week-end. This stronger front with seemingly good mid level support should drop all the way south and giving us all a couple more nice days of chilly weather again. Boca, you all may very well get some nice rain and thunder around next Friday with this one! Actually, there may be a good chance that most of Florida will get a bit more needed rain from this frontal passage. Strong advection behind the front should bring some of you guys in S. Florida temps dipping into the mid/upper 40's one of those nights between next Saturday.- Monday.

Thanks Boca! 'Course, you may start liking my posts a bit less if Palm Beach gets under 1/4" of rain this weekend LOL. Well, I don't necessarily think it'll be a significant event (flooding or severe weather) I'm sure hoping it squeezes out at least 1/2" - 1" of rainfall for all you parched folks down there. It certainly seems like the pre-frontal activity will be fairly broad and not just a dwindling rope-like line of heavy showers.

Chaser1 you can’t control the weather just report it.
