We experienced another round of torrential rainfall and localized flooding today. Two and a half inches of rain were reported to have fallen near my area. I live in an especially poor drainage area, which made the rainfall totals seem a lot worse (to me) than what they actually were.

definitely big rains from northeast florida southwest to the gulf coast in this pattern. Nice break from the usual summer heat but we need some drying locally

The high pressure has really dominated the past few days here in the panhandle. We are sitting at 1026mb.

We have been getting pounded by convergent rain bands moving in from off the Atlantic as the onshore wind flow continues as the stationary front remains just to our south. Parts of Jacksonville picked up nearly 3 inches in spots near downtown and the Arlington area late last night.

We are getting looks like a repeat this morning of late last night with more training rain bands moving off the Atlantic over the Jax metro area. These bands are not moving fast and over the same areas, so another additional 1-2 inches at least can be anticipated in areas later today.

Thank goodness we have some below climo rain chances and sun in the forecast. It is a total swamp here

Moved to Naples, FL a couple days ago, I've visited many times and I love seeing the summertime storm activity, of course it practically stops when I get here

Hopefully, tropical activity will steer clear of the Sunshine State in '19. In particular, no one needs a wet, slow-moving tropical cyclone.

Welcome! Gotta say, you picked a nice part of the state to settle in though. Of course I don't need to tell ya this but wait long enough and you'll get your big time convection over there soon enough!

Tired of this westerly steering flow we've had for the last week + and which is supposed to be with us for at least several more days after this. Instead of getting interesting storms between 4-8 PM we're stuck with hit and miss showers which seem to be more prevalent in the middle of the night here in Pinellas County, and the west flow brings in even more humidity on top of the normal summer humidity. Make it stop!

:uarrow: we really haven't had great easterly flow convection that much this summer. Last year was the same until late August into September when we really cashed in. Looks like I picked a good time to escape to the northland...we're enjoying some lows in the 50's up in the great lakes..

Unpleasant heat + humidity combo looks to be coming back here in the north part of the state. Heat advisory in effect for entirety of northeast and north-central Florida except for some areas immediately on the Gulf Coast.

I have measured already 52 days of at least 90 degrees to this point since May 20, of which 24 of those days the mercury has topped 95 degrees or higher at my home station. I have measured 2 days at 100 degrees or higher to this juncture as well.

It indeed has been one of the hottest summers, if not the hottest, I have seen as a lifelong Jacksonvillian to my memory.

And to think we still have about 2 1/2 more months of this heat at least... It has been miserable for yours truly!! :x
‐-‐-------‐-------------

EDIT: Make that 25 days of at least 95 degrees or higher as the mercury currently is at 96.4 degrees at 1:15 p.m. my home station. The Heat Index is currently at 109 degrees. UGGH!!!!! This is plain brutal!

Set a new record max temp for today's date this afternoon at the NWS Jax WFO. It was 99 degrees officially. It was also 99.2 degrees here at my home station.
Just missed the third 100 degree day of the season.

Heat index topped at 111 degrees. This was the hottest feeling day of the season for sure and it was BRUTAL folks...

:uarrow:

I briefly went outside early this morning (I wanna say like 10 A.M.) to grab something from my car, and even then, it felt kind of gross. Can't imagine how bad it must have gotten shortly after.

We have seen quite a bit of rain here today, though, via a series of strong to severe thunderstorms that have been taking place this evening in and around my area. I think my immediate area is actually under areal flood warning at the moment.

:uarrow: A line of strong to severe thunderstorms have been drifting south/southeast out of Southeast Georgia the past couple of hours and now are drifting across the state line into Nasssu Counry and the northern areas of Duval County, just north of my home station. These storms will be moving through my locale within the next 30 minutes.

These storms ha e plenty of heat and energy to feed from the near 100 degree heat we had earlier today and the oppresive humidity.

Received just over 2/3 of an incn the showers and thunderstorms, which drifted southward out of SE Georgia late last night. They weakened as they moved through metro Jax after 11 p.m.

Heat Advisory is in effect again today across Northeast Florida as Heat Index once again ecpected to be near 110 degrees (temps mid-upper 90s and upper 70s dewpoints) Just brutal!!!

However, we will see more widespread coverage of thunderstorms across South Georgia and North and Northeast Florida after about 4:00 this afternoon . A surface trough pushing southward from off the Southeast Atlantic Coast, along with seabreeze convergenced enhanced convection, should fire up some strong to possible severe thunderstorms, especially interior Northeast Florida and Southeast Georgia late this aftermoon inyo this evening.
