national weather service...melborne 21st jan

FOR THE SECOND TIME IN A WEEK...AVN DROPS THE 0C DEG H85 ISOTHERM
JUST S OF LAKE OKEECHOBEE AS THE 540 THICKNESS LINE GRAZES THE FL
PANHANDLE...AND FOR THE SECOND RUN IN A ROW...THE MEX MOS GUIDANCE
HAS TRENDED FRI LOW TEMPS DOWN BY ~10F DEG. WITH THE 21/00Z
RUN...MEX HAS DROPPED THU AFTN MAXES BY 10 F DEG AS WELL AS THE
FRONT PUSHES THROUGH THE STATE. MEX NOW FORCASTS FRI MIN TEMPS OVER
THE NRN INTERIOR TO BE IN THE L/M20S (NOT A TYPO!). THE INGREDIENTS
FOR A SIGNIFICANT FREEZE IN CENTRAL FL ARE IN PLACE...WILL CONTINUE
DOWNWARD TEMP TREND. WILL CONTINUE TO OVERSHOOT THE FCST MIN
TEMPS...HOWEVER...AS FRI IS STILL BEYOND DAY 3...AND A LOT CAN STILL
HAPPEN. FOR NOW...THE BEST STEP WILL BE TO START TALKING UP THE
DEVELOPING WX SITUATION IN THE HAZARDOUS WEATHER OUTLOOK. THIS
COULD GET INTERESTING...

Jan 21 2003

...Killing freeze possible by Friday morning across parts of west
central Florida...

A strong cold front is expected to sweep through the sunshine state
Thursday morning. Following the front...arctic high pressure will
usher in perhaps the coldest temperatures in several years across
much of west central Florida by Thursday night...continuing into
Friday.

By daybreak Friday...temperatures are expected to range from the
teens to near 20 across the nature coast...in the 20s to near 30
across west central Florida...and around 30 in Charlotte and lee
counties. As usual for cold outbreaks...readings will be several
degrees warmer near the immediate shoreline of the Gulf...Tampa
Bay...and Charlotte Harbor.

The freeze will be exacerbated by humidity values less than 80
percent...which will not allow insulating frost to form.

Residents and other interests are urged to keep abreast of the
latest developments regarding this significant weather event. Stay
tuned to NOAA Weather Radio or your local media outlets for possible
watches and warnings Wednesday and Thursday.

... I think i could just jump on a plane and head back home for a while!! My mom says it has been fantastic there (South Africa) warm days (29c and cool evenings 21c) It pretty much stays that way till mid feb in Durban then the humidity kicks in and the days get to around 33c and the nights to around 26c) No extremes like here. I think the coldest Durban has ever recorded is like 8c (since they have been keeping records)

Wed -High 70 Lo 48
Thurs-High 52 Lo 22 (wind 25-35 mph so wind chill=-11 to -16! for the lo)
Fri-High 45 Lo 28
Sat-High 55 Lo ?
Sun-High 60 Lo 35
Mon-High 62 Lo 42

Just hope the wind does not get that high cause thats just a little to fresh for this African girl! :shocked!:
