THAT nouthing check this out

THE LATEST SURFACE ANALYSIS AND AREA RADARS SHOWS THE APPROACHING
STRONG COLD FRONT CURRENTLY OVER NORTHERN ALABAMA AND PROGRESSING
TOWARDS CENTRAL MISSISSIPPI. SOME LIGHT PRECIP HAS DEVELOPED ON THE
FRONT...AND WITH THE MID LEVEL SHORTWAVE THAT HAS STEADILY BEEN
APPROACHING FROM THE WEST INTERACTING WITH THE FRONT
TONIGHT...CHANCE TO SLIGHT CHANCE POPS STILL LOOK OK FOR TONIGHT.
THE FRONT CONTINUES THROUGH THE AREA ON WEDNESDAY WITH THE AID OF
ANOTHER MID LEVEL SHORT WAVE SYSTEM FOLLOWING ON THE HEELS OF THE
FIRST. AT THIS POINT IS THE BEGINNING OF A COOL DOWN THAT MAY
RESULT IN A COLD SPELL SEEN ONLY EVERY 5 YEARS OR SO...AS IN
FEBRUARY OF 1996 OR DECEMBER 1989. BOTH THE ETA AND AVN ARE IN GOOD
AGREEMENT WITH 1000-850MB THICKNESSES DROPPING TO 1290 AT MOB BY 12Z
THURSDAY...WITH THE GFS CONTINUING TO FALL TO NEAR 1260 BY 12Z
FRIDAY. DESPITE RECOVERING THICKNESSES...THE POSITION OF THE
SURFACE HIGH OVER THE AREA ON SATURDAY MORNING PORTENDS ANOTHER VERY
COLD NIGHT ON FRIDAY NIGHT. THANKFULLY THERE ARE NO GULF LOWS
FORECAST TO TREK ACROSS THE NORTHERN GULF MEANWHILE. PER
COORDINATION WITH NEW/JAN/BHM WILL GO WITH LOWS OF 15-20 FOR
THURSDAY NIGHT AND FRIDAY NIGHT...AND REASSESS TOMORROW TO SEE IF
ADJUSTMENTS DOWNWARD WILL BE NECESSARY. BHM NOTED THAT WIND CHILLS
MAY BECOME A PROBLEM AS THE ARCTIC AIR SURGES INTO THE AREA THURSDAY
NIGHT WITH BEFORE THE WINDS DROP OFF TO NEAR 5 MPH LATER IN THE
NIGHT. TEMPERATURES SLOWLY RECOVER THROUGH SUNDAY AS THE COLD
DOME/SURFACE HIGH SLIPS SLOWLY TO THE EAST. A FRONTAL SYSTEM
APPROACHES FROM THE CENTRAL/SOUTHERN PLAINS ON SUNDAY WHICH MAY
MANAGE TO BRING A FRONT THROUGH THE AREA AROUND MONDAY...BUT AT THE
MOMENT THE DOME OF MODIFYING COLD AIR APPEARS TO STEER THE SYSTEM
NORTH OF THE AREA.

MARINE...WINDS BECOME NORTHERLY AND INCREASE TO 20-25 KTS WEDNESDAY
NIGHT IN THE WAKE OF THE FRONT AND THEN SUBSIDE FRIDAY THROUGH
SUNDAY. WILL ADD GUSTS TO NEAR GALE FORCE ON THURSDAY PER
COORDINATION WITH NEW. SEAS WILL BUILD TO 9 FEET WELL OFFSHORE
WEDNESDAY NIGHT INTO THURSDAY.

FIRE...NO CONCERNS THROUGH WEDNESDAY...BUT DESPITE COLD TEMPERATURES
ON THURSDAY...DEW POINTS MAY FALL INTO THE SINGLE DIGITS RESULTING
IN AFTERNOON RELATIVE HUMIDITIES OF LESS THAN 20 PERCENT. WILL
CONTINUE TO MONITOR FOR POSSIBLE RED FLAG WARNING FOR THURSDAY.

The North Pole! lol Looks like we might have to protect the pipes around here. I haven't seen such a drastic change in forecast in one day in a long time. Yesterday i thought "well it will be mild for the rest of the week, guess winter is over"

wrkh---you are much farther N. than I am. You have a much better chance at frigid weather than we do. Being S. of Lake Pontchartrain makes a big difference.

Brein, I think we could see temperatures LOWER than that. Hey everyone, we don't need a gulf low, just go spray your patio furniture and trees with the hose for a touch of winter precip lol!

If we do get freezing temps here I am going to put the hose in my oak tree. If I can't have snow then I'l have ice.

LOL I usually do that every year....my neighbors already know I've gone off the deep end. :silly:

Another thing you can do is go outside when the temp is at or near freezing (wind chil has to be below freezing) and spray water from a spray bottle. You'll see snow! Tiny little snowflakes. You have to be stand where you can see it. Like looking up towards a street light. Try it. It really does work. (I know all the cold weather fun tricks....LOL)

You have just given me a great idea!!! I have 4 acres of Irrigation heads!!!! If I turn them on I should be able to get a dusting of snow  Hey I even have heaps of dirt i can sled down....maybe I'll charge a gate fee and invite the public (at least i dont have to worry about the neighbours, i dont have any...lol...except the cows next door, and i think they are used to the nutty woman next door!)

Amanzi, it has to be a mist and the temp has to be freezing. It has to be able to form before it hits the ground or you'll just have ice on the ground. It's worth a try with an irrigation head if you can make it mist. I've never thought of it on a large scale. I just like watching the tiny flakes fall. I have another fun thing. Take bubble stuff and blow bubbles and look for the snowflakes inside the bubbles. This is super cool and kids love it. This is another one that you have to be where you can see through the bubbles. I do it outside my door so that I can see by the porch light. There will actually be a little snow flurry inside the bubble. Bundle up good and have loads of outdoor fun. I love the cold and find reasons to go out at night. Yep.....I'm the crazy lady too! :silly:

aaaawww I dont have mist heads on my big irrigation system, but I do have them in 3 hot houses!!! When my hubby is not looking I just may go pull the covers off and to HECK with the plants if they kick the bucket...

The bubble idea sounds really neat, I am definantly going to give that one a try! Thanks for the tips weatherwatch... I may even wake up really early when its at the lowest and have some fun!

Can you imagine how nuts the folks up south must think we are!
