Bureau sees wet autumn for NSW, Qld

The weather bureau has predicted above average rainfall in parts of New South Wales and Queensland over the next three months.

The bureau's three-month seasonal outlook, predicting above average rainfall between May and July, is good news for drought-affected areas of Queensland and New South Wales.

It says the possibility of above average rainfall in southeast Queensland and eastern New South Wales is between 60 and 75 per cent.

But that is where the rain stops.

Below average rainfalls are forecast in much of southern South Australia, western and central Victoria and northwest Tasmania.

The Bureau says the predictions are a result of a warmer than average temperature in the Indian Ocean.
