I just wanted to say, don't let this be a repeat of Katrina... something like 50,000 animals probably died in that storm because either evacuees had no plan for their pets, weren't allowed to take them when they were evac'd after the event, or thought they'd be back in 2 days. Many of them starved to death locked in homes, in crates (I shudder at that thought!), chained to porches and drowned in the floods, etc.

Please....take them with you!

Agree!! If it's too dangerous for you to stay, it's too dangerous for your pets to stay. Think of them just as you would yourself or your children.

A lot of hotels will relax their pet policies during an emergency. I remember when we had a huge ice storm here in early 2002, one of the nicest hotels in KC allowed people to bring their pets.

We put our dogs in a kennel when we evacuate.
