ONE THING I LEARNED

#1 Postby george_r_1961 » Sat Sep 02, 2006 5:19 pm

Although I was assured by trailer park staff that my mobile home is safe for up to a Cat 1, the next time the right front quad of a TS comes up here im LEAVING!!!!. The heaviest weather tends to be there and we had some convective cells with wind gusts estimated at 75 mph. Early friday when the worst of it hit my trailer SHOOK and I watched as my shed got flipped upside down and blown toward my home. Had it not been for the tree in the way my shed would now be in my bedroom as there is a sliding glass door there and not a solid wall.

Next time im evacing. No doubt about it!

If you live in a mobile home...even if "only" a TS is coming your way..plan on leaving. Especially if u are gonna be in the right front quad. Leave early; dont wait to all hell breaks loose like i did and then try to leave only to discover its too dangerous to drive.

So glad you are ok George!! Glad you "learned your lesson" without injury too!!! I'm sorry though that you had to go through the experience. I know it wasn't fun at all.

I was hoping you would not stay in that mobile home. Some of us have to learn the hard way. I am glad you are okay and that you did not have to drive to work!
