Tropical "bursts"

#1 Postby Portastorm » Fri Jul 18, 2003 10:59 am

One idea that Joe Bastardi from Accuweather is postulating on today is the concept that one can expect "bursting" of tropical activity in certain areas of the tropics. He suggested that action in the western Pacific begats action in the Eastern Pacific begats action in the Western Atlantic and that there is usually a 3-to-5 day lapse between zones.

Has anyone else heard of this idea? Bastardi credits the famed Gil Clark from NHC, who many have lauded, for forwarding this theory.

The long and short of it? JoeB anticipates increased action in the western Atlantic in the next few days. Basically he offers a "watch out!".

Could be interesting ....

I guess the action that JoeB is referring to are thost two waves heading for the Caribbean. In my opinion, they will definately get there act together and both of them will reach the GOM. One of them might be a humdinger (thanks GulfBreezer.... :D ) so get ready. Again, this in my uneducated opinion. Take it with a grain of salt...... :o
