They know what the problem was that took GOES-13 out.

Re: GOES-13 responding well to tests
GOES 13 appears to be alive and well. The java based loops that work off of 13 are working again.

Re: BREAKING NEWS=GOES-13 will be in full operation on June 6
YES!! GOES-13 will come to full operational mode on June 6 at 15:45 UTC.
*Update #21 *
GOES-13, at 75 degrees West, will return to GOES-East operations on
Thursday, June 6, 2013, at approximately 1534 -1545 UTC (first image at
1545 UTC). Derived products from GOES-13 will begin immediately
following the switchover.
GOES-13 re-activation is proceeding nominally. GOES-13 Sounder remains
off during the outgassing process. The outgassing is proceeding
nominally, and is being done to reduce noise and improve the medium and
short-wave sounder channel products. The outgassing will end on June 5,
2013, at approximately 0359 UTC followed by a cooling off period.
Sounder will be turned on and begin imaging on June 6, 2013, at
approximately 0030 UTC and will be 'within specifications' at
approximately 0359 UTC.
All GOES direct readout services (DCS, LRIT, EMWIN, etc.) except SAR
were switched over to GOES-13 today, June 4, 2013. Specifically, GOES
DCS services were switched back to GOES-13 on June 4, 2013, at
1530 UTC.
GOES DCS has no issues and there has been no outage to the
communications packages.
GOES SARSAT is not tracking GOES-13 at this point. The plan is
to switch
back to GOES-13 tomorrow, June 5, 2013. There are no SARSAT issues and
nominal operations continue.
Direct readout users can receive GOES-14 via the GVAR broadcast stream
until Monday, June 10, 2013 (time TBD).
All GOES-13 space weather instruments except Solar X-Ray Imager (SXI)
are on.
GOES-14 is providing GOES-East coverage from its position at 105
degrees
West and is available to provide Rapid Scan Operations as needed.
GOES-14 will continue to operate as GOES-East until GOES-13 is restored
to GOES-East Operations, currently slated for June 6, 2013.

GOES-13 operations schedule postponed
Awww
*Update #22 *
The planned GOES-13' return to GOES-East operations scheduled for
today,
June 6, 2013 at 1534 UTC, has been POSTPONED due to a Critical Weather
Day and Tropical Storm Andrea. The outage will be rescheduled for
a date
yet to be determined, but no sooner than Monday, June 10, 2013. There
are no other operational issues warranting postponement, and GOES-13
re-activation is proceeding nominally.

Re: GOES-13 will be in full operation on June 10
Great news that it will be fully operational on June 10 at 15:45 UTC.
*Update #23
*Current plans are to return GOES-13 to full operational service as
GOES-East on Monday, June 10, 2013, at approximately 1534 -1545 UTC
(first image at 1545 UTC), pending a final decision on Monday morning.
The transition will not be done on a Critical Weather Day.
GOES-14 continues to provide the operational GOES-East products and
imagery, as GOES-13 is producing imagery and products in a backup mode
with GVAR and other broadcast services on.
Tests of GOES-13 instrumentation have demonstrated the Imager and
Sounder are ready to return to GOES-East operational service. RSO and
SRSO schedules from GOES-13 will be available to the NWS immediately
after the switch is completed (tentatively on Monday, June 10, 2013, at
1545 UTC). Users will notice the immediate shift of Earth coverage from
the current GOES-14 position at 105 degrees West to the GOES-13
position
at 75 degrees West longitude.
