It's definitely not a slam dunk they'll be fish either, of course the GFS is well known for recurving too early.

imo, as we will rapidly approach mid-sept...about the only reasonable chance of a storm passing south of the big islands is an honest to goodness low rider...in this environment, -nao etc, it appears that we will need something coming off at 8-10deg N to miss the transient troughiness in the east atlantic...is there any evident of such an animal in the wave train at this moment :?: ....thx in advance for the info....rich

GFS still has this one the coast on the 11th/12th

9/12. 1009 mb. SE of Cape Verde Islands
9/13. 1005 mb. S of CVI
9/14. 1000 mb. SW of CVI
9/15. 993 mb. W of CVI. 32W
9/16. 991 mb. Heading NW

(Another CV storm reaches the water and starts to develop on the 16th)

CMC, ECMWF, GFS and NOGAPS all develop this one and rather quickly.

The 12Z gfs is even weaker in the short term thanks probably to that stupid upper trough that draws it northward quickly.

To be a fish, a system must actually develop, which is not guaranteed in this case.
