How to create the RECON graphics from Google Earth

#1 Postby HURAKAN » Fri Sep 03, 2010 11:38 am

Many people have asked me how I do the graphics that we use in the RECON threads showing the tracks of NOAA and AF planes on Google Earth. Very simple.

1. Download Google Earth to your computer

2. go to http://wxgr.nl/?weer_recon.htm

3. click on "kmz file" and that will give you lots of overlays.

4. Google "recon google earth" and click on the first link.

4a. this is the link : http://tropicalatlantic.com/recon/ and click on "Live Recon Data in Google Earth" That will give you the tracks.

5. In case you don't know how to get a jpeg image from GE, this is done simply by clicking Ctrl+Alt+S ... name the pic and save it.

6. to upload the image, you can use tinypic.com or imageshack.com or photobucket.com or http://freeuploadimages.org/ or any of your choice.

7. Then place the image in the RECON thread and you've done it!

I hope this helps!
