Hurricane Elena re-visited

#1 Postby beoumont » Tue Jul 12, 2011 9:49 pm

To anyone interested, I recently posted on my website an old article I wrote for (now-defunct) "Storm" magazine many years ago, entitled "The Interception of Elena." It describes a grueling 4 day chase adjusting to (1985) Elena's sudden stalling offshore Pensacola, drifting east towards the armpit of Florida, stalling again a few miles offshore, then a clockwise loop that sent the hurricane WNW again, destroying the causeway to St. George Island, Florida, and finally making landfall at Biloxi, MS.

A five minute highlights video of Elena is at the URL below, to give the readers of the article a more graphic view of the event.
