Another significant event is the AMS 31st Conference on Hurricanes and Tropical Meteorology in San Diego March 31-April 4. All of the top researchers and forecasters will be there. This conference is held every 2 years, alternating between an east coast and a west coast location. About half the attendees come from Asia and Australia, so a west coast location is a little closer for them. I'll be attending with 2-3 of my team members (who are presenting). This conference is quite different from the National Hurricane Conference as it's not for the general public.

Perhaps I'll see some of you mets there?

:uarrow: Sounds like it will be a very interesting conference and hopefully we get some answers to what occurred in the 2013 season and what they see in the near future in terms of the factors that lead to having an active season or not.

When will the National Hurricane Conference and the Governors conference be held?

Well 17 days left. No surprise at the lack of activity on this thread. I for one am not going to sleep on this season. Mother nature has a way with surprising us just when least expect it.

8 more days! :D Since this season's probably going to be inactive, I don't know if we should be excited or not. Well, the start is approaching fast!

Hurricanes are an amazing natural phenomena. While many are spiraling pits of evil that kill people or cause devastation, some are tame and stay clear of land.

I wish for you to :Bcool:

Even the slowest years can produce bad storms though. But this does look like a year we will be asleep for most of the time (at least in the Atlantic - Pacific is a different story).
