April Fools from SSD for South Atlantic?? (not a joke topic)

#1 Postby Hurricanehink » Tue Apr 01, 2014 10:09 am

http://www.ssd.noaa.gov/PS/TROP/storms/90Q.html - not making this up. They have an invest tagged for a system over extreme northwestern Brazil. Not sure how much longer it'll be up for. I was excited when I saw an SATL invest, but this is just a little weird... Anyone have any thoughts?

http://www.ssd.noaa.gov/PS/TROP/Basin_SAtlantic.html - here is a satellite image of the South Atlantic as a whole. Maybe they meant to tag something else down there?

Wow interesting! This would be equivalent to early October in the N.Atl. so it makes sense.

The coordinates (5S 60W) are over Central Brazil. The satellite data is real, but its transposed over open ocean I'm assuming as an April fools day prank. Its ITCZ convection over the Amazon.
