area of convection over Mali

#1 Postby Hurricaneman » Sat Aug 30, 2014 10:03 pm

The GFS seems to be gung ho on developing this but the GFS tends to blow things up in the medium range, the Euro modestly develops it near the same location, and the NAVGEM starts to show a little development as well around the Cape Verde Islands. The convection is interesting as well, lets see how it does when it splashes into the Atlantic because things have crapped out this year at splashdown

:uarrow: Thank the Kelvin Wave currently progressing through the Atlantic for the uptick in convection throughout the basin. In a couple of days it should look almost the complete opposite.

GFS suffering from convection feedback issues IMO due to the MJO
