My feeling is that the names Claudette, Erika, Grace, or Henri could be big ones this season. With this year ending in "5", we could see something historic. Just wait... :O

Hurricanes are an amazing natural phenomena. While many are spiraling pits of evil that kill people or cause devastation, some are tame and stay clear of land.

I wish for you to :Bcool:

I'm sorry, but are these some sort of prediction or just "storm stuff" fantasies?

The big one for the U.S. will be Waldo. Where's Waldo? The answer is in the place you least expect it and it will happen in early to mid October.

I now think it could possibly be Hilda landfalling in Hawaii as an actual hurricane.

What is the most devastating Atlantic storm that originated from non-tropical origins (i.e. not from a tropical wave)?

I can name a few 100mph storms or higher since 1980

2014 Arthur
1991 Bob
1984 Diana
1983 Alicia

so very few do become bad from non tropical means

How about Rita? It formed from squalls on the trailing end of a cold front east of the Bahamas.

One that I think may have had non-tropical origins was Carol 1954, but without satellites such could never be proven. 1954 was certainly NOT an analog to 2015 though...

AFAIK, the only Cat 4 or 5 storm in the satellite era to have non-tropical origins was 1991's Claudette. Interestingly, 1991 might be a good analog for 2015...

Speak for yourself lol, it was the worst storm here (over six inches of rain in eighteen hours 100 mph wind gusts) since Bob in 1991.
