Wow. Cyclome Pam already contributed 31.1825 units and it is still increasing as it is weakening very very slowly and is holding on to intensity for a very long time. Until now Cyclone Pam is at 130 kts

WPAC is a whopping 305% of normal 15.27 > 5 and driving up the Northern Hemisphere at 15.27 > 5 or 305% of normal.

Southern Hemisphere is 163.045, normal year to date is 166 about 98% of normal.

Western Pacific now at 32.6175, 543% higher than the normal level of 6 YTD. I remember we had achieved this ACE level (32) in 2013 during August, and 2014 during the month of July. Which proves that the WPAC season is a beastly and potentially hyperactive like in 1997.

Maysak already brought 17.3475 units, which is still much higher than the entire YTD level. IMO it may even reach 30 units.

BTW who has old ACE data for 1997 and 2002 for the WPAC? Thanks.

WPAC now at 51.8025 YTD is 14 or about 370% of normal.

WPAC also forwarding the NHEM, normal YTD is 17 or about 304% of normal.

With 2 major typhoons forecast and a possible another, we might be at close to 200+ as we close in to June...

I might be late on this but they now include Subtropical storms in the ACE? I thought it was only tropical.

Subtropical storms officially are not counted towards seasonal ACE unless it transitions to tropical
