New Japanese Weather Satellite in Orbit

Chris Velden from the Univ. of Wisconsin posted a note to the tstorms list regarding the new Himawari-8 satellite now undergoing a testing phase in orbit. It uses the same imager as next March's GOES-R satellite. Chris says that the satellite will initially be positioned to view the East Pac and western Atlantic.
