2015-16 SHEM Season

#1 Postby Yellow Evan » Tue Jun 30, 2015 1:55 pm

With 17P about to cross over to the new cyclone year, I'm making a thread for the SHEM.

Thinking the SPAC could have quite a busy year with a likely super El Nino. Akin to a 1997-98.

Making this thread since GFS is showing a system in the SPAC in six days.

With another WWB, I would consider legit chances for this to occur :uarrow:

El Nino seasons tend to be brutal for the South Pacific.

A look at the long-range CFS weekly forecast, some hints of the SPAC heating up in around a month.

We've got a good deal of convection extending across both sides of the dateline in the tropical Southern Pacific right now, but nothing looks particularly organized.

I realize that over half the season still remains, but the Southern Hemisphere Cyclone Season has been underwhelming so far. Plenty of time for activity to uptick though.

The peak of the season is usually in February to March, so I agree, there is still time! :)

For me, personally, the most disappointing basin so far this year has been the SPAC, what with the strongest niño ever and all.

The Southern Hemisphere certainly is looking a little more alive right now.
