Naming Cycle: 2009 - 2014: Trivia

#1 Postby HurricaneRyan » Wed Oct 28, 2015 1:36 am

Now that we have started the next cycle of the naming lists, I wanted to do fun facts for what occurred in the last cycle: 2009 to 2014

Trivia
It started with El Nino and ended with El Nino
Strongest Storm: Hurricane Igor
Costliest Storm: Hurricane Sandy
All female E names were tropical storms, while all male E names became hurricanes, two of them major.
Three consecutive 19 storms seasons with two of them retiring letters from later on in the alphabet
All female A names were tropical storms and not that notable. Alex and Arthur were early season surprise storms as was Alberto
Bill and Bertha were the only B names to become hurricanes, both in August as well.
All female C names were tropical storms only
Danielle was the only D storm to become a hurricane
Fred and Fay were the only F hurricanes, both in El Ninos
Humberto was the only H storm to become a hurricane
All female G storms were tropical storms at peak strength
The EPAC retired two names in consecutive years. Manuel and Odile
Odile was the third consecutive name retired from List 6, after Kenna and Alma.
Ingrid's 2013 duration was the same dates as the 2007 storm
Ingrid's retirement meant that Alicia, Iris and Marilyn's initial replacements have all been retired and they are all now on third generation names
