The passing of a legend...truly a sad day for the TC community. I never got the chance to meet Bill, but all of the management team at our office did. Nothing but glowing comments about the man.

Dr. Gray is right up there with John Hope as the greatest of all time hurricane specialists. I have been following hurricanes for 20 years now and it feels like yesterday that I started reading Dr.Gray's research.

RIP Dr. Gray

Myself, Wxman57, Katdaddy, and Steve were with Philip on and off all weekend. He had told us Dr. Gray was home but not well. We or at least I didn't realize how close the end was. Dr. Gray is one of the GREATS in TC research and forecasting that I haven't met. I so wish I had had the chance!! WHAT A HUGE LEGACY HE HAS LEFT US!! RIP Dr. Gray.

Dr. Gray told Phil he wanted to see the Seasonal Outlook issued "Publicly" at the 2016 National Tropical Weather Conference before he passed. Thankfully for Phil and those of us that knew the end was near, Dr. Gray did make it until the end of this Conference. We lost a Giant in the Tropical/Climate Forecasting. His legacy is in excellent hands with Phil Klotzbach.

I was sadden yesterday to hear the passing of an icon in the tropical weather world. Dr. William Gray is a legend in the hurricane research world. Each Spring I would await his hurricane forecast for the upcoming hurricane season. Thankfully I had the honor to meet Dr. Gray at the 2013 National Tropical Weather Conference in South Padre. I am glad Srain and Wxman57 were in South Padre with Phil to give support when he received the phone call yesterday.
