Disturbed weather in western GOM

#1 Postby Hurricaneman » Sun Jun 25, 2017 5:46 pm

May need to be watched even though there's no model support as it's a persistent area of thunderstorms and the shear is not destructively high

I've been watching a little swirl north of Tampico. I think it's hugging the coast.

Quite a lot of dry air on the back side of the front over South Texas.
If the tail end of the front cuts off a little further out in the gulf and the convection persists maybe it will get a mention?

I would agree this area should be watched.

Looking at a long water vapor loop, I don't think this is much of anything (nor will become anything)

According to Bastardi's tweet earlier today this is from the wave that spawned Bret but didn't expect anything from this fwiw.

Lots of still disorganized but disturbed weather in the western GOM. I still think it's something to keep a close eye on. IMO

42055 has a NNW wind, but I am sure this is just a mid-level head fake http://www.ndbc.noaa.gov/station_page.php?station=42055

There appears to be a Low centered right over Corpus Christi Bay?

Ive noticed the convection sitting off the coast also, chances are low that something would develop in such a short amount of time but it has happened before.

The funny thing is that our local weather here in Victoria isnt calling for much rain tomorrow... but if this was to spin up i believe it would move up the coast and be a suprise

I believe if anything were to develop it would tend to move northeastward. IMO

It appears the 850mb vorticity is increasing just off of south Texas.
