Re: Strong Tropical Wave Emerging off Africa
Something seems off the with 00z ECMWF forward speed. From the AEW's current position (~10N,15W) to the ECMWF's forecasted 144hr position (~15N, 60W) is ~3000 miles. That would mean this would have to average a forward speed of ~20 mph. Not out of the question, but seems unlikely, especially with the passing trough partially eroding the BH.

That thing was FLYING during that run. I am skeptical of a forward speed that quick.

Looks like dry air is winning the battle once more.

00z UKMET still supporting significant development.
ECMWF's just doing its typical back-and-forth with MDR systems, when genesis comes closer it'll latch on. Forward speed also looks off compared to the UKMET and GFS.

My posts are my own personal opinion, defer to the National Hurricane Center (NHC) and other NOAA products for decision making during hurricane season.
