this wave look real good, best wave we have seen roll of this year. Why don't the models develop it I wonder?

Amazing to me how the models are sensing this entire region to be unfavorable this deep into the heart of the season.

Not to say that we won't get in close development, just ... very strange.

That's a VERY impressive wave.

Is this the one the Euro was showing with immediate development as it rolled off the African coast? Not that I buy that solution, since the Euro has often cried wolf on immediate development of these waves only for it to back down once the wave splashes down.

Actually, the one that the Euro is calling for immediate development is not until the wave that rolls off late this upcoming weekend.
The Euro (as well as GFS and UK) do absolutely nothing with this current wave, as impressive as it may look.

205 PM EDT Thu Aug 24 2017

An Atlantic Ocean tropical wave is along 24W/25W from 21N
southward, moving westward 10 knots. Convective precipitation:
widely scattered moderate to isolated strong from 11N to 17N
between 17W and 24W, and from 08N to 13N between 27W and 31W.
This precipitation also is close to the monsoon trough.

211 PM EDT Fri Aug 25 2017

A tropical wave extends from 12N27W to 22N24W moving W around 10
kt. A weak 1010 mb low is analyzed along the wave axis near
17N26W. The wave coincides with amplified 700 mb troughing.
Infrared satellite imagery shows the presence of Saharan dust
flanking the north side of the wave. Scattered moderate and
isolated strong convection is found from 11N to 14N between 28W
and 31W.
