conducive for some development over the weekend while the system
moves well south and southwest of the Cabo Verde Islands.

looks like the Cape Verde wave train is about to leave the station. Between Irma and this one, it should be rather busy :double:

Waouw, that's a very muscular train. Hope this won't be a threat for any lands. We will see but looks like this thing is moving west a for at least a while... not very good for any islanders.

And several weeks ago, before Harvey, people were saying this season was going to underperform and that it was going to bust..dry air, shear, TUTTs...etc.

Look where we are now.

Maybe we ruled out a hyperactive season too soon. Two long track cape Verde hurricanes could bring us over 100 ace by mid September

Very true...and then we know that there is a high probability we get a major down in the Western Caribbean in October (since it always seems to happen)

this one may have some issues due to Irma becoming extremely large. That may create some shear over this if it gets too close

Up 0% - 50%
1. A tropical wave located over the far eastern Atlantic Ocean just off
the west coast of Africa is producing disorganized showers and
thunderstorms. Environmental conditions are expected to be
conducive for development, and this system could become a tropical
depression early next week while it moves westward at 15 mph over
the tropical Atlantic.
