Typhoons Soulik and Cimaron are expected to make landfall over South Korea and Japan, respectively, on the next 24-36hrs at nearly the same time.

Last 5 runs of the GFS consistently has a low latitude system developing in the far eastern micronesian region. A time when the MJO is forecast to return...A return to normal deep tropics typhoons?

Amazing. EPS continues to show rising air over the WPAC throughout the month until next month. No sign of sinking air in the near term...

Starting to get those signals - heh, maybe by early to mid September - we'll have another significant system.

The models continue to show a very favorable environment transpiring until next month.

Now CFS has a strong MJO moving through.

Random question, but in the (probably unlikely) event that JTWC has to suspend operations for a time due to Hurricane Lane, who would be the backup?
