i am.
east pacific, 2018. (lane)
to be fair i was a little surprised to find myself on the naming lists, especially for the north american region. i never thought my name would be used for a cyclone anywhere in the world, never mind in the south pacific/aussie region!

what about you?

nope and im pretty offended lol there needs to be a Hurricane Ashley

I don't have the distinction of having a hurricane name yet, or my folks for that matter. Funny enough the closest link I've got is the name of my childhood dog, and he appears in 2022...Tobias.

If middle names count, my middle is Andres, which is spanish for Andrew.

Yup.

Every time it's a lame one, too.

Well, we'll have to see if I do better next year.

Yes it is.

As a matter of fact, it is in this year's list.

I am NOT a professional meteorologist nor weather professional. Opinions are my own.
Consult with NHC and NOAA for official forecasts and advisories.

Most people who know me address me as Andy, although my actual name is André. Still, I always felt some connection to Andrew, THE hurricane of recent record that was heavily featured (with, to a lesser extent, Hugo) in all the Weather Channel and other documentaries I watched throughout my childhood.

This is why for a long time I thought south Florida landfalls from the east were a lot more common than they really are.

Not to get off track here but even though some of the most powerful landfalls in the last 100 years have hit the Florida east coast, it takes very anomalous 500mb setups to make it happen. Much more likely to get hit from the S and W

i'm on the 2021 EastPac list but it'd have to be an exceptional year to get down that far, meaning it'll probably happen since it's the EastPac.

My only shot on any NHC basin list is if Zeke somehow gets axed in the Epac. Which, we are almost never going to get to, but hey, it's a theoretical chance every two years instead of six... so...

Not a meteorologist, in fact more of an idiot than anything. You should probably check with the NHC or a local NWS office for official information.

Yup, List 1 of the Atlantic (Nicholas). I've only been used in 2003 as a moderate TS, but if this string of consecutive above average seasons we've had since 2016 are any indication, I think Nicholas could be used in 2021. Not sure if it will be a sheared TS or a monster Cat 5, but I guess only time will tell.

Unless explicitly stated, all information covered in my posts is based on my opinions and observations. Please refer to a professional meteorologist or an accredited weather research agency otherwise, especially if serious decisions must be made in the event of a potentially life-threatening tropical storm or hurricane.

My middle name is Floyd but that was retired before I was even born. Still waiting for a C storm to get retired...

I am in no way a professional. Take what I say with a grain of salt as I could be totally wrong. Please refer to the NHC, NWS, or SPC for official information.

I'm on the 2021 EastPac list, which will be the 7th time my name is used by the NHC. In 1991 hurricane Kevin was a cat 4, but (luckily) no storm with my name to date has been so devastating that it needed to be retired.

No, but my name has pride of place as probably the worst cyclone ever to strike Australia.
