Eastern Mediterranean system

#1 Postby DanieleItalyRm » Wed May 02, 2018 1:39 pm

so, this is out of the Atlantic site: an unusual storm-system occurred over the Eastern Mediterranean Sea (Israel, Giordania, Lebanon) on April 26th. This was over the coast of Israel and then inland. Although the area is very dry and semi-desert, the storm has obtained a central convection and a warm core for a few hours. Probably pulled a lot of hot air from the deserts. It caused flooding in Jerusalem, Bethlehem, Kfar Hanokdim and Negev with 9 victims. A this type of system is very rare in this area. The rotation in the loop-sat was evident; the Eastern Mediterranean, Red Sea and Nile valley is visible on the images. This system was like a Disturbance or Invest. 1006 hpa, 25 kt, sea surface 22°C
25 April over Egypt::

26 April over Israele:

This Mediterranean system had no stable convection. it was present on April 25 and 26th. On April 27 and 28 was part of a large extratropical cyclone over Iraq.
