Images like this one are great to see and the best thing is that they update every 15 minutes.

That's such a huge improvement over what we had previously in the eastern Atlantic.

Should this thread be pinned, so we don't have to keep searching for it?

@TropicalTidbits
The data source I use to make my satellite images is currently not updating. It's not clear when it will be online again.

Any reason this thread was unpinned? And does anyone know how much longer will it be before the NHC site gets its floaters back?

They already have 16 pinned or sticky threads which is probably 15 too many. I couldn’t even find the global models thread tonight to post about a possible sw Atlantic burst shown by ICON GFS and CMC in different ways. Edit to say on 4th look, it was like thread 35 or 36. Maybe just have a current discussion of models/conditions area?

I think that's currently Invest 96L, the model thread is here: http://www.storm2k.org/phpbb2/viewtopic.php?f=59&t=119675

This post was probably an opinion of mine, and in no way is official. Please refer to http://www.hurricanes.gov for official tropical analysis and advisories.

Well, I guess I'll just bookmark the floater site or something.

@TropicalTidbits
My satellite page is not up-to-date at the moment due to server issues. I'm working on the problem.

The NOAA satellite data feed stopped updating around 12Z. GOES-16 products are therefore delayed. Currently unsure how long the outage will last.

@TropicalTidbits
Update: The outage is scheduled maintenance and the data should be flowing again by 20Z at the latest.

Same, would like to know.

So the ATL and Epac floaters are not on the NHC satellite page that states, "The GOES-16 Satellite is now officially GOES-East. Some webpages designed for the retired GOES-13 satellite are not currently available, including floater imagery." -- Now what's odd is the floaters for at least the Epac TCs are still there for ssd.noaa.gov/PS/TROP/ if you simply go down a different rabbit hole. It started with the link below and I went from there. I got some glitch webpage rendering and the good ole "John has now become John" with a redirecting loop every 5 seconds to the same page shtick. I just click on a floater product and that's all. Its the same as it was before so why is one version of the SSD page not showing it and another showing? On the one where it says its unavailable the message below says, "Floater imagery is not available from GOES-16 (GOES-East)" (even under the eastern Pacific section). The Epac floaters doesn't need GOES-East! All someone has to do who can't find the floater for lets say Hurricane John is enter it manually:

http://www.ssd.noaa.gov/PS/TROP/floaters/12E/imagery/avn0 .gif

Link to different SSD page: goes.noaa.gov then http://www.ssd.noaa.gov/PS/TROP/ then http://www.ssd.noaa.gov/PS/TROP/storms/JOHN.html

The cut-off between GOES-East and GOES-West is roughly around 105°W. When a system moves west into 105°W, the floater switches from GOES-13 data to GOES-15 data, which is when imagery becomes available on the server.

However, the East Pacific section is being overwritten with Not Available, but this can be overcome by accessing this temporary page:

The Tropical Tidbits site is pretty nice and a great resource to have, but is there anywhere that has GOES 16/17 loops, but with the color mapping of the older satellites, specifically the AVN and Rainbow mappings?
