I’ve heard that Japan, Taiwan and the US would jointly conduct a research project from July to September. Recon missions (including eye penetration) would be conducted on systems approaching Taiwan.

That's some good news! :D

Hopefully WPAC will get full recon coverage in the future.

It would be even better if they expand to systems approaching the Philippines and Guam. That area is the hotspot globally. :wink:

MJO is currently leaving WPAC. However, models are saying it may return shortly in the future.

00Z GFS has a few weak disturbances developing on either sides of the Philippines.

The blob of cloud south of Guam seems to be fairly organised. Perhaps future 91W?

Looks like the basin will be quiet after what ever happens with 01W. Climatologically February and March are the quietest months in the year long typhoon season. WIll there be any surprises?
