If 95W and this verifies, it would be the 3rd straight major and possibly another weaker TC in between for the Southern Ryukyu Islands according to GFS.

I imagine there is quite a bit of Dorian fatigue in the meteorological community, but I'm honestly surprised Faxai isn't getting more attention from mets on Twitter and such. It might be weakening a little, but it's still rather strong and headed for quite a large number of people. A fully tropical cyclone vs the typical recurving transitioning system is rather rare for Honshu and could catch some off guard.

Favorable conditions the rest of the month and into October when another round of positive velocity potential is forecast to return.

GFS has been very optimistic on developing a dateline system which threatens the Marianas down the road.

Development in 3 days and passes north of Saipan in 6 days as a 977mb typhoon.

Besides the system north of the Marianas that GFS and EURO doesn't want to let go, the EURO is also on board with the Marianas system now.

GFS continues to spin it up quickly but loses steam as it recurves well northeast of Guam and Saipan.
