Tropical Cyclone March Madness Bracket: Super Typhoon Haiyan is the Victor!

Since the NCAA Basketball March Madness Tournament has been canceled, how would everyone like to play a Hurricane/Typhoon/Cyclone March Madness of sorts instead? Using the UNCA IBTrACS page, I've put together a selection of tropical cyclone images at their most intense and seeded them to my liking. Only I know the identity of each TC, and no other context is given. You can only rate them based on the image and your intuition, that's it!

Thank you all for your participation! We started with 72 tropical cyclones, but gradually eliminated them all until until we arrived with the sole champion. Super Typhoon Haiyan from 2013 is the 2020 Tropical Cyclone March Madness Champion!

Play in round is complete! Eliminated TCs are Super Typhoon Parma 2009 (TC 1), Extremely Severe Cyclonic Storm Phailin 2013 (TC 4), Super Typhoon Judy 1979 (TC 6), Hurricane Olivia 1982 (TC 8), Super Typhoon Flo 1990 (TC 10), Super Typhoon Betty 1987 (TC 11), Hurricane Allen 1980 (TC 14), and Cyclone Olivia 1996 (TC 16). TCs 2, 3, 5, 7, 9, 12, 13, and 15 advance to the round of 64.

Four of the eliminated TCs had recon recorded pressures below 900 mb: Judy (887 mb), Flo (891 mb), Betty (891 mb), and Allen (899 mb), and that's just the play-in round!

This round featured the elimination of Hurricane Patricia and Cyclone Olaf, which were the 1 seeds for the P and O Brackets, respectively. Looks like it is coming down to the 2 storms I thought (and probably most of us) would be in the finals. I already know which way I'm voting for the championship.

Thanks for doing this it was pretty awesome! Nice break from all the corona virus mess. Learned the names of a lot of powerful systems I wasn't aware of.
