Name list pop culture references

#1 Postby BadLarry95 » Sun Mar 29, 2020 1:52 am

I’ve noticed that certain names seem to whether intentionally or not seem to reference characters in tv shows or other media. Some I can think of include

2021- Ana/Elsa (Frozen) Olaf In the E. Pac too
2008- Ike/Kyle (South Park)
2002- Hanna/Lili (Hannah Montana)

Any others you can think of?

This probably doesn't really count as a pop culture reference, but we've got Marco (Atlantic) and Polo (EPAC) this year. I've always hoped they would occur at the same time.

Imagine if Bertha, Cristobal and Sally got retired this year.
The replacements are Becky, Chad and Stacy. They get to sit along with Kyle (and Karen would be from the year before.)
Referencing internet meme culture.

If Don gets retired next time around, we could totally get Dora/Diego at the same time

Or if Bret gets canned, Bruce/Lee

But the whole VvC should be included.

Brad, Chad, Thad, Lad, Becky, Stacy, Tracy. We’ll never see hurricane Virgin, Neckbeard, Incel, or Wizard tjough

If Bonnie were retired in 1998 alongside Georges and Mitch, we could have had Belle/Gaston (Beauty and The Beast) 2004 and onward.

I wouldn't count Hanna and Lili as Hannah Montana didn't even go into production until 2005, long after Lili was retired.

But if Gabrielle and Rebekah both get retired next time around, we could get Gretchen and Regina to go with Karen (Mean Girls)

List 4 and Sesame Street:
-(Al)bert(o)
-Ernesto (Ernie)
-Gordon
-Oscar

Don and Hilary on List 3

Hermine is similar to Hermione. Replace Howard with Harry and Richard with Ron and you’re set.

Replace Colin with Clyde to join Bonnie.

Josephine and Klaus are both characters from A Series of Unfortunate Events, although Klaus was retired long before the series as first published. The book Josephine appeared in had a hurricane named Herman, which is similar to Hernan on the EPAC lists.

Mario and Zelda on EPAC list 5.
