How many named storms will form in September?
I am making the September poll much more earlier than past months polls to have more participation from the members for example the August poll had only 56 members voting. The poll will close for voting for any of the 7 options at August 31rst at 8:36 PM EDT.

Going with 5 because I think 6 will form, but I’ve been too high with my previous numbers and too aggressive with my previous season evolution predictions in the other polls.

Re: How many named storms will form in September?
I'm not going to officially put my vote in until later this month, but my preliminary vote is for 6 named storms. I think September is going to be a pretty big month with potentially some long-trackers. Hopefully they all curve OTS. I'll update this by the end of the month to make it official.

I am in no way a professional. Take what I say with a grain of salt as I could be totally wrong. Please refer to the NHC, NWS, or SPC for official information.

I am going to go with 6 for now, but I probably will update my number by August’s end because quite frankly I have no clue what August will bring in NSs.

Unless explicitly stated, all information covered in my posts is based on my opinions and observations. Please refer to a professional meteorologist or an accredited weather research agency otherwise, especially if serious decisions must be made in the event of a potentially life-threatening tropical storm or hurricane.

September is going to be gangbusters in that I can see us tracking 3 or more simultaneous storms around peak season given the latest seasonal predictions from the promets.
Seven or more storms is certainly not unrealistic given such a scenario.

I'm feeling a little daring, so going with seven or more.

I'm going with 3, I think it will be the end of quiet season. That is in comparison to the past few seasons.

Think 6 is a pretty good bet at this point. Seems to be around what we typically see in more active years anyways.

Agreed! September may be a brutal month. I'm afraid that there could be two or more storms that'll pose Cat 3 or greater landfall risks. More important then number of named storms however, will be just how persistent will be the Central and Western Atlantic ridging continue to be? That's what will ultimately dictate number's of OTS tracks verses continued threats to the Antilles and potentially the U.S. Finally, I think a big risk to the GOM region may come from an end of Sept East Caribbean development that could threaten anywhere from Texas to Florida.

Whoever voted 1 is Extremely Pessimistic! (And no, it's not me . . . )
And I'm going with 5 to start with, but my Maximum number is going to be capped at 8 systems . . .

Voted 5. I'm hesitant to go higher since it looks like the intraseasonal pattern may not be quite as favorable in the second half of the month.

2018 and 2019 had seven September storms. 2020 had ten. I see no reason why the trend of a very favorable September would not continue.

Re: How many named storms will form in September?
Voted for 5 names in September.
Rolling the dice, I think 2021 will shine right during the peak season, and perhaps the first half of September will bring the bulk of the action. With 5 NS, perhaps 3 will become hurricanes and 2 of them major. One of them may be a C4/C5.

Re: How many named storms will form in September?
Fun fact: if 2021 has six or fewer storms during September, it would have been the slowest September since 2017.
