2017 was among the busiest September’s on record. Just goes to show that NS count really doesn’t matter.

2017 September was ridiculous in terms of the quality of storms 2017 was definitely more of a quality over quantity type of season.

2017 September

Irma- 180 MPH 914 MB Cat 5
Jose- 155 MPH 938 MB Cat 4
Katia- 105 MPH 972 MB Cat 2
Lee- 115 MPH 962 MB Cat 3
Maria- 175 MPH 908 MB Cat 5

Pretty crazy that Katia was the weakest NS in September 2017 and even that was a 100+ MPH cat 2.

I think 4 or 5 is a good guess at this point.

So far, everything is indicating a favorable September. Seven or more seems like a safe bet.

Seven storms have officially formed this September (Larry, Mindy, Nicholas, Odette, Peter, Rose, and now Sam). September is always an active month regardless of MJO or CCKWs.
