The Storm2k 2024 North Atlantic Hurricane Season Numbers Poll Countdown
After analizing the early indicators that are showing a very active or even a hyperactive season may unfold, decided to begin this year's poll on (Edited date=March 10) to give much more time for the members to participate and if they have preliminary numbers, there will be plenty of time to make them final. The 2005, 2010 and 2020 polls had 118, 194 and 96 participants. Hey, this poll can go above 200 as I am looking at things.

My main goal is to have the most participants in the poll since these began in 2005, and is to have over 200. Because of the interest by the members (Hype) to this upcomming season is that I will start it one month earlier than the April 1 traditional date.

I think is interesting that 2024 is a leap year. Recent leap years have been active, except 1992, but had the beast Andrew.
Here are the last 11 leap years:
1980
1984
1988
1992
1996
2000
2004
2008
2012
2016
2020

Ok folks. Has anyone already has their mind up and have by now a set of numbers, or members are waiting for more updated indicators, to then make a decisión about the numbers?
If anyone going to answer the question, dont post numbers in this thread to keep it neutral. The real thread with the poll will be up on March 10th at 1 PM EST.

Re: The Storm2k 2024 numbers poll will begin on March 10
Hey folks, A small change announcement. Decided to change the date for the poll to open from March 1 to March 10 at 1 PM EDT, and did that because to not confuse anyone with the time zones and on the 10th, Daylight Saving Time begins, and thought it will be better, so folks, is only 10 days ahead of the original March 1 date. Now members will have a little more time to think of the set of numbers for the poll as preliminary or final ones.

Interesting, what made you change the date permanently? I thought this year's change was due to the season being expected to be so active.

Yes, initially, the March 1 start was because of the expectations for a very active season, but thinking things, came to my mind the DST dates and here I am with that decision. Never dissapoint right?

Never came to my mind about starting the polls from the DST dates since they began in 2005, but now it will be the oficial first date of the future polls.

Have decided on a set of numbers, but won't reveal them here to keep this prepoll announcement thread neutral. Wait for the poll thread to see them. Who else has decided on the numbers?

Ok, after CPC dropped the bomb update of La NIña comming pretty fast in the summer, think I will need help from the stats members to post how the poll is doing when is open and of course, when it closes to have the final stats of the numbers and ACE. I suspect a record of participation and the set of numbers will on average,on the high side. Below were the final stats of the 2022 poll made by TheAustinMan. Only one month away for the 2024 poll to open. Who will volunteer to do the poll stats?

Now less than a month left for what may be the S2K poll of most participation ever since the first one in 2005 and up on the averages.

Down to 27 days left. Another nugget for the poll is that if you are waiting for CSU, TSR and other agencies to release their April outlooks, you can post preliminary numbers before they come out, and then come back later to post the final ones, before the poll closes on May 31rst at midnight EDT.
